Wanted “Used” but bought NEW! I needed to trade my 2015 Highlander for a smaller car that would fit my 15’6” garage. I have always bought the newest car with the least miles for t I needed to trade my 2015 Highlander for a smaller car that would fit my 15’6” garage. I have always bought the newest car with the least miles for the best price and no reason to change! But I hadn’t been able to find such a car on my online searches of local dealer lots. Fred Holmes found my searchings on the Ed Martin Toyota web site and gave me a call to offer me his help. I must say I usually dread such calls, but Fred was comfortable to talk to and offered me very useful info for my quest. Fred said there was a pre-owned car on the lot he wanted me to see so I agreed to stop by the dealership for a test drive. I was surprised by the good feel of the car but didn’t like the color or upholstery style. Knowing I was looking for used, Fred asked if I’d be interested in seeing a year-end model Toyota was shipping, literally from Japan factory, on Jan 2. Fred said he’d call when car arrived at the dealership. While I agreed to see the car, I continued looking online and reading reviews on CR looking for that perfect used car. Nothing was happening and I was beginning to have second thoughts about the choices available for my limited small space! True to his word, Fred called to say the cars had finally arrived and was I still interested in seeing it. After six weeks of waiting, sure I wanted to see it and test drive it! I still was counting on finding my criteria used car but the thought of getting a really great deal on an Year-end overstock model just might not be hard to swallow! Right? In my naivety, the great deal on paper was going to cost me more than I wanted to pay, so Fred showed me a pre-owned car from the lot and it was great . . . Until he pulled the Carfax! This car had been in an accident and my gut instinct said no! You see, I had already been stung buying a used car that had undisclosed structural damage that cost me a lot of money! Fred had done his best, now I had to decide. Buy new or buy used again and not really know what I might find down the road. No strong arm twisting or pressure. Fred had given me enough information to make a good decision for me to live with, so I purchased NEW! And I love it! Twenty four hours later and no regret! I cannot thank Fred enough for his generously shared info and patience as I made my decision. In fact, everyone at Ed Martin I interfaced with during the transaction were wonderful. As I write this review, I’m feeling very blessed for having this experience. More
