I was in town visiting a friend and my Grand Cherokee started giving codes. Suspected it was the transfer case going out. Took it in to get the official diagnosis, which I paid for. I was right, they sai started giving codes. Suspected it was the transfer case going out. Took it in to get the official diagnosis, which I paid for. I was right, they said I need a Tcase. When I went to pick it up, it was stuck in 4wd Low. Ran inside to get some help with that and the techs said, we didn't cause that. The service writer agreed with me that I couldn't have driven it there in 4wd low. I was told "It needs a transfer case. I don't know what to tell you". I told the service writer how to manually put it 4wd Low and he told me that If I knew how then I'd better do it. I had to have my friend drive me to get tools and fix it. Bottom line, If I wasn't a little mechanically inclined I would have had to either pay their $4500 estimate and had it fixed there, or I would have to have it towed out of there. When I drove it in!!! I ended up getting it back in AWD in their parking lot and took me maybe 10 minutes. More

Must be good for buying auto. Service department horrible, no communications.
