I had one of the most disappointing car-buying experiences at Clay Cooley Hyundai in Rockwall, Texas. We agreed on pricing and lease terms, and I left feeling confident enough to schedule a follow-up appointment to finalize the deal. Before my appointment, I received a text from Charles informing me that the original salesperson had been called away for military duty and that he would be taking over. I specifically asked Charles if he was fully aware of the pricing and lease terms that had already been discussed. He assured me he was and promised a smooth transaction. I also made it very clear that I was driving one half hours to the dealership solely to complete this purchase. Charles assured me everything was in order. Unfortunately, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. After making the long drive, I was presented with a completely different pricing structure and the typical high-pressure, take-it-or-leave-it sales tactics that I thought we had already moved past. It felt like all the prior discussions meant nothing. Instead of honoring what had been discussed, I was met with an unprofessional attitude that wasted my time and effort. If the dealership had simply called me beforehand and honestly said the previously discussed deal was no longer possible, I would have appreciated the transparency and saved myself a three-hour round trip. Instead, I was brought in under false expectations. The positive online reviews are what convinced me to give this dealership a chance, but my experience was the exact opposite. This was my first visit to Clay Cooley Hyundai in Rockwall, and it will absolutely be my last. I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone looking for honesty, professionalism, or respect for a customer’s time. Unfortunately, typical aggressive sales pitch and twisting tactics takes precedence over professionalism ethics with such dealerships.
