I came to Boston Volkswagen in Watertown to purchase a new Golf TDI 4DR manual. I called several dealers in the area prior to contacting Boston VW. I spoke with Gavin Luckens and from the moment we talked new Golf TDI 4DR manual. I called several dealers in the area prior to contacting Boston VW. I spoke with Gavin Luckens and from the moment we talked it was clear he was someone I could work with. Gavin was straightforward, relaxed and not at all pushy, he listened and he worked with me and the manager to get the car I wanted for a good price. He did not waste my time playing games (what monthly payment I was can afford...). Before I showed up to the dealership he quoted me a price on the new 2013 that was as good as the other dealers quoted me for leftover 2012s with a couple hundred miles on them. He negotiated with his manager to give me more for my trade. Because I preferred a different color than the one they had in stock, he secured me the color I wanted which was in transit on a ship and will be delivered in a few days. The visit with Gavin took about 1h. He gave me as much hands-off time as I needed to examine the car in stock and he was there when I was ready to move on. In my 10+ car buying experiences in the past 6 years, Gavin has been the best. I should also mention that Chris, the finance manager seems to take the same, relaxed and straightforward approach to car buying as Gavin. Chris did not push the extra warranty, paint protection, corrosion protection, gap insurance... or any of the other things that are typically encountered. I think this reflects very well on the dealership as a whole. A great experience. More
The 2013 Volkswagen GLI Autobahn is on my very short list of potential cars to buy. I am planning to buy within 4 weeks. On Sunday, January 20, I requested to test drive two GLIs - one manual transmissio of potential cars to buy. I am planning to buy within 4 weeks. On Sunday, January 20, I requested to test drive two GLIs - one manual transmission and one DSG transmission via the Boston VW website (http://www.bostonvw.com/…). I requested a 10:00-10:30 AM test drive on Tuesday, January 22. On Monday, January 21 at 9:10AM, I received an email from Gavin telling me that he had both a manual and DSG model of the GLI on the lot that I could test drive at my requested Tuesday morning time. He asked me to confirm the models I wanted to drive and the time. I replied to his email confirming the time and models at 11:09AM. I still have a copy of my email response. I showed up at Boston VW at 9:55AM on Tuesday, January 22 for my 10:00 AM test drive. I was greeted by a friendly salesman (I never got his name). When I told him I had a scheduled test drive with Gavin, he told me that Gavin had just run out for coffee and would be right back. He walked away, then came back asking what I wanted to drive and explained that due to the predicted storm the night before all of the cars had been moved to their warehouse. There were no cars available to test drive on the lot. But Gavin would be right back and to wait for him at his desk. A little after 10:00, the salesman called Gavin and told him that he had a customer waiting for him to do her scheduled test drive. Then he called to have the two GLIs brought to the lot to be test driven. He then again assured me Gavin would be right back. At 10:15, I told the salesman that I wasn't going to wait any longer. I understood the cars were been moved to the warehouse for the storm and I would have waited a little longer for them to be brought from the warehouse. However, the fact that Gavin didn't have the courtesy to show up for my appointment on time, or immediately come back from getting coffee when he had been told I was there, showed he didn't value my potential business. The salesman, who had been friendly up to this point, told me that it was my fault - Gavin had told him on the phone that I was supposed to confirm the appointment and he wasn't there because I hadn't confirmed the appointment. I told him that I had replied to Gavin's email confirming the date, time, and models within a couple of hours of receiving his email. I have the sent message. I would be buying a car elsewhere. The salesman then said, "Yeh. Got it. And where else do you think you'll be able to shop?" I replied with the names of three other VW dealers in the area. He picked up his phone and called whoever to cancel bringing the GLIs I wanted to drive to the lot. I did think that it was totally reasonable that the cars were put in the warehouse for the forecasted storm. I was frustrated because I had scheduled a test drive and no effort had been made to reschedule due to the questionable forecast. To make it more frustrating, the storm didn't occur and although Boston VW opens at 9:00AM, the cars were still not on the lot when I arrived at 10:00. That proverbial final straw was when Gavin never showed up and the other salesman blamed me for both Gavin's absence and the cars not being on the lot. After reading other poor reviews here, I was hesitant to even schedule a test drive with Boston VW. But it's on my way to work making it very convenient. Now I wish I hadn't bothered. At least I only wasted my time and not my money. More
I'm usually never excited to buy a car. I know that sounds strange, but it's because of the money and paperwork involved. It always becomes a huge hassle and in the end, I feel like I've been taken for sounds strange, but it's because of the money and paperwork involved. It always becomes a huge hassle and in the end, I feel like I've been taken for a ride. Boston VW in Watertown made my experience so simple. Their customer service is superb. In fact, David Diblasi reached out to me a month before my lease was up, then walked me through the process, getting me the lowest payment I have ever had on a car. They took care of all the paperwork, including sending a runner all the way to Vermont to help me out with my registration. I would highly recommend this dealership, and in particular, David Diblasi! Charles Benitez was among the best GM/EVPs I have ever dealt with together with his associates: Chris, Jose, Tony and Stavros. Have extensive experience with buying cars and am a knowledgeable and precise buyer who values pros...this group has it down cold. Honest and responsive to our needs paved the way for a seamless transaction for our new 2012 Passat. Went beyond the extra mile in numerous ways. Would not hesitate to recommend this group...most impressive. More
We have got our certified pre-owned 09 Jetta in April 2012. Staff members were very friendly and worked with us in order to help us to get the car of our choice within the appropriate price limit. They found the way to give as an ok amount towards our old vehicle we were putting down and worked hard to get the financing with the lowest possible interest rate. I would characterize the purchase experience as fast, smooth and overall positive. More
Just purchased a new Jetta here from Hamil, and I can't sing his praises enough. This was my first lease, but after Hamil fully explained the process , and my options, I felt completely at ease. I had been shopping around for a Volkswagen ( Golf ) and had been to a few other dealerships ( looking for deals at large suburban dealerships ). One of them was so full of bait and switch that my wife and had been to a few other dealerships ( looking for deals at large suburban dealerships ). One of them was so full of bait and switch that my wife and I had to leave in the middle of the negotiation ( was that bad ). Plus, this was for a new car. After some abhorrent experiences, I noticed Boston VW right in my backyard ( not literally, but close :-). We spoke with Gavin, and he was very polite and informative. Ultimately, I chose the 1 year old Rabbit , which I still drive and love ( almost two years since ). Basically, the guys here are honest and stand by there quotes. Plus, I understood that they needed to make a living but they also understood that I needed to get a fair price on a very good car. When it comes time for my next purchase ( my wife likes Subarus, I love VW ) I will definitely be giving Boston VW in Watertown MA my business ( maybe my wife will convert )! BTW, Gavin is very straightforward, no b.s. and also the management will stand behind the deal-and their vehicle service and parts is great too. Jehan More
