We had work done on our vehicle 2 years ago. According to autonation their service warranty covers 12 months or 12,000 miles. Which ever comes LAST. We just had our A/C fixed on the vehicle at a specialty shop and they notified us that a piece on our engine block (that holds the alternator in) was broken. No one would have known otherwise but because the condenser sits next to that part of the block and isn’t totally visible unless you’re under the vehicle. Since the alternator replace (that took a week for autonation to do) we have not had any work done other than the A/C. We took it to autonation and let them know what we had been told of, and asked how they would resolve it. We showed them the picture the other shop sent us. They came up the the excuse that the timing cover was broken, and that it’s a parts issue not a service issue. I don’t think things that are broken on the block is a “parts issue”. So, they gave us the run around basically saying unless we pay them $1,000 dollars they couldn’t do anything for the mistake and the break THEY did. I asked for their boss’ number to which they did give me Travis’ name and a number to a guy that no longer works there. I then went to the front and asked a SALES person for the correct number. He then said that we could talk to Travis since he was in the building. Upon asking to talk to Travis all of a sudden he was no longer in the building but now on a test drive. We waited for 30 minutes for Travis to supposedly get back. To which I had to leave because my child got sick at school. King story short; Autonation is a bunch of crooks who don’t stand behind their shotty work, and their warranty. It’s highly likely your vehicle will leave there in worse shape than it was. Also, I over heard a conversation that they charged a customer $2300 for a clutch replacement in a jeep is highway robbery. We for ours FULLY redone at a highly rated “mom and pop shop” for $900. Go somewhere else. Side note; unless you buy brand spankin' new they are know for carrying “problem cars” and charge excessively for said cars. Take your business elsewhere. Update to add to my review: We were contacted by the GM see response below. He and Travis were on a joint phone call with us saying that they could offer us a discount if we could get a hold of the "part". They would charge us a labor fee of $300. If they had their "guy" find the part then it would be the expense of the part along with the $300 labor fee. The GM flat out said that NO ONE WOULD TAKE A LOSS TO FIX A PROBLEM. Whether they caused it or not... Hmmmm... I know plenty of places that have fixed problems they caused for ZERO dollars. Personal example: Les Schwab. I had a Chevy Colorado they put a lift on. The guy who put the lift in did not do it correctly and my drive shaft wasn't angled properly to operate the 4wd. We brought it back to Les Schwab and guess what? They fixed it, seated the shaft in the right position, and charged us ZERO dollars for THEIR mistake. Z.E.R.O. The GM at autonation wanted to claim the mechanic who fixed the alternator to begin with was a 25 year master tech... But he also no longer works there... I find it interesting that he's a human who doesn't make a mistake. They were just hoping they wouldn't get caught in their mistake. There was no indication on the paperwork it was broken after they fixed the alternator. There were no notes or phone calls saying "hey this is broken" (which it was not) before fixing the vehicle the first time around. I say again if you have the option to get work done, or buy a vehicle TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. They do not care one bit about their customers only their bottom line. More
