There are faster ways to cross a continent. Very few involve twelve cylinders, quilted Linen leather, and a Flying B rising from the hood.
Why We Acquired This Vehicle
The Flying Spur has always occupied an unusual position. It has the craftsmanship and rear-seat presence expected of a flagship luxury sedan, but underneath it is a Bentley engineered to be driven rather than simply ridden in. In W12 form, that distinction becomes much harder to ignore.
Its 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 produces 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and active all-wheel drive. Bentley Dynamic Ride and electronic all-wheel steering were standard on the W12, giving a sedan more than 17 feet long the chassis technology to behave like something substantially smaller. This example is finished in Glacier White Solid over Linen, but the specification is what made it particularly compelling to us. Its original build totaled $252,765, with more than $36,000 in factory options including the Mulliner Driving Specification, Bentley Rotating Display, illuminated Flying B, panoramic glass roof, contrast stitching, chrome interior detailing and the dark grey-and-bright-machined Mulliner wheels.
At only 12,434 miles, it is also exactly where we like to see a modern flagship Bentley: enough mileage to have been used, but nowhere near enough to dilute what made the car special when it left Crewe.
