I told them if they cannot achieve this number, I COMPLETELY understand. When they came back, the total was nearly $400 off from what I was looking for, with them knowing what range I wanted to be in. There was no negotiating even CLOSE to that number, but they kept pushing. I wish they would have told me that it was not achievable and either been transparent and upfront or suggested a different model/trim car to me to be more reasonable.
