As my first time buying a car, even I recognized the lack of professionalism shown to me and my parents at this dealership. Although my parents were a deciding factor on which car I was getting, I was still of professionalism shown to me and my parents at this dealership. Although my parents were a deciding factor on which car I was getting, I was still the main signer on paperwork and at the end of the day I was the one deciding and, more importantly, paying for a car. Sonny, our salesman, talked and only looked to my mother for about 70% of the process of test driving, negotiating price, and explaining paperwork. My sister was present and Sonny made more eye contact with her than he even did with me (she had no part/say in this process). During the test drive he offered to let my mom drive, to which she explained that she would like to but doesn’t need to be as long as my drive so far (I had been driving for about 7-8 min). I was immediately asked to pull into a gas station and my mom drove for as long if not longer than me despite her initially explaining she didn’t need to. I would have appreciated having a longer test driving experience as my mom will rarely be driving this car. We had already explained that I was the one to save up for the down payment will be paying monthly for this vehicle and the only help I was receiving was my dad co-signing to allow me to get a slightly better APR. I understand the parent often understands more of this process and both of my parents opinions were extremely valuable, but I did not appreciate being treated as if this was not my car I am purchasing and paying for. Even my parents noticed the discrepancy in which I was treated. Regardless of that, during test drives, and while discussing price, Sonny took multiple calls which were mainly from spam numbers. When getting gas for the car he returned with a drink from the gas station, which at that point, we had already been at the dealership for several hours and smaller moments like that added up and felt and looked very inconsiderate to my family’s time (I understand being thirsty/wanting a better drink than water but vending machines for sodas and energy drinks were available in the dealership). Furthermore, in order to accommodate to my dad’s work schedule we would need to come in the next evening to finish paperwork in the financial office. We agreed to meet at 5:30, which Sonny did graciously come in for on his day off. This was appreciated and I was treated with more attention and respect than the previous day. However, we did not get back to the financial office until past 8pm (the dealership closes at 8). Only one man was working in the financial office and he was occupied with one couple the entirety of our stay. Multiple people walked out while waiting for him to become available. We understand that things happen that are out of our control and that a situation like that is frustrating for everyone, however this did not help my perception and experience at the dealership whatsoever. The only reason we stayed so late was because with my work schedule and my dad’s, this was the most convenient time to sign papers together. If the situation was any different we would have walked out and I likely would have went to EchoPark in Charlotte to buy a Mazda3 that was at a similar price. Overall, Sonny would not have convinced me to buy my Mazda3 had I not done previous research on that car compared to other makes and models. It is also worth noting that Keffer Mazda includes a package in the price of the car that increases the price about 3k, something they don’t inform you of. My parents informed me that the lack of transparency did not make them feel good about purchasing from this dealership either. Every car owner (including both of my parents, boss, and coworkers) I have discussed this with reassured me this was unusually bad experience for purchasing a car. Despite the overall negative events, there were some good aspects, however I would still not recommend this dealership to anyone and will not be returning if I have other dealerships available. More
