I am so grateful I received this email to voice my displeasure. Dean Team Volkswagen has been working on warranty work on our vehicle since April. We still do not have a working vehicle returned to displeasure. Dean Team Volkswagen has been working on warranty work on our vehicle since April. We still do not have a working vehicle returned to us. I asked multiple employees for the GM's name and contact information, but nobody wanted to provide it. I finally looked it up online, and found that the GM is Colin Berndt. I filled out an online request asking him to provide his email address which he did on September 22. I emailed him back later on September 22 explaining our disappointment and asking for resolution. I had to send four more emails for a total of five before Colin called me on October 6, two weeks later. He was rude and abrasive, saying the reason he did not call back was because we did not purchase the vehicle from his dealership. This is true, but we did purchase from Dean Team and his dealership has been doing all of our service and warranty work over the last two years. He had not done his research and was assuming that we had towed the vehicle to the dealership in undriveable condition. The truth of the matter is that the service department botched their diagnosis and repair work and then was not competent in rectifying with the warranty company. Regardless, it struck me as unprofessional that he decided it was acceptable to ignore a disgruntled customer directly requesting a call from him. My husband and I explained the timeline and the service team's involvement. Colin eventually admitted that he needed to get more information and look into this, and would call us back. That call was one week ago and we have not heard back from him via email or phone. It is also worth noting that between our repeated requests for communication from Colin, several sales members from Dean Team emailed us asking us to come in and test drive new vehicles. Even when we responded to these emails, we never received a response or acknowledgement. More

Kat was my salesperson, and epitomized attentiveness and professionalism. Having just left a different dealership down the road after a salesman talked over my concerns about a defect in a car I'd driven, I went to Dean Team Kirkwood and ended up buying from this dealership for the second time. Their previous history with me and her straightforwardness were why I sealed the deal. And I'm still happy with it, a year later. This dealership has been wonderful to work with over the years, and not just for sales. For routine service matters and an item that needed attention right after the sale, this service department beats all I've worked with in over 30 years of buying cars. Dean Team of Kirkwood will be my first stop when I next need a car. More

Amongst automotive enthusiast, dealers and service centers. Dean Team is regarded as the worst dealer in St. Louis so much so it has become a joke. Let me tell you an example. My girlfriends father bought their VW Jetta here and has had it serviced here since and when I heard that's where they were taking it. I was like ok let's see if the rumors are true. It is true. They tried charging for warrantied work, for when the part failed again. They didn't install the alternator properly which caused the belt to shred, That didn't need to be replaced in the first place because of a multimeter test showing that the old one was fine. Then they put in a aftermarket alternator from car quest that isn't even for the car. They tell the owner my girlfriends father nothing of this. Then worse they get the car back and they completely sheered off the exhaust. When originally it was a exhaust gasket that needed replacing. Said it was not their problem. They clearly broke the exhaust by lifting the engine and changing the pulley sheering off the exhaust and replaced the pulley with some random one that doesn't even match the original. My coworkers have heard the car before and they were with me and the first thing they said is that "they broke your car man" They refuse to make it right stating the exhaust isn't their problem and that the wrong pulley is good enough and to let them know if the belt falls off. Whatever you do don't take your car here for service or buy a car from them. They're diagnosis methods are severely flawed. VW TOUAREG BUYER I have purchased from Dean Team before and was looking forward to the experience when we decided to check out the vehicle. Craig Currington, the salesman who greeted us and helped us with our purchase was very friendly, personable, professional and surprisingly familiar with the vehicle we were interested in. He made our decision to buy an easy one to make. Unfortunately, our encounter with Bill Van Oyen, the finance manager, was not as rewarding as with Craig. Bill became indignant when I told him I had no interest in purchasing an extended warranty or a “wheel and tire” program…or any other added service. He asked what I planned to do if the car broke down and whether I knew how expensive repairs could be. I said that I understood the financial risk and was comfortable with it. Bill then asked if my business had been impacted by COVID-19, to which I replied, “thankfully, as a gov’t contractor, it had not.” He responded that I should “thank the man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” for my financial comfort. I was flabbergasted that he brought up politics during a business transaction. That seems especially unprofessional and a much higher risk from a customer relations perspective than the risk I accepted by choosing not to buy an extended warranty. I sternly replied that “I wouldn’t thank the man at 1600 Pennsylvania for anything”. He replied “I guess you don’t agree with him on social issues” and I replied that I don’t find anything agreeable about “that man”. At some point, Bill expressed that he could tell by my zip code that I live “in the city”. He decided it was time to tell us how fortunate he was to live in Wildwood where it is quiet and safe; where you don’t even have to lock your doors. I told Bill that I had lived in West County and decided it wasn’t a lifestyle or culture that interested me. I would definitely seek out Craig on a future purchase, and would readily refer friends to him. However, the thought of having to deal with Bill again would not encourage me to return to Dean Team Kirkwood. It was a miserable and insulting experience that I would not choose to repeat. More

I have bought all 3 of my cars from Dean Team & there’s a reason I keep coming back. I love how I am not harassed while I am looking at the selection they have available.
