Great Sales...Poor Service All departments of a company are important to the continued success of that business. I have purchased three automobiles through Stew Hansen's, but th All departments of a company are important to the continued success of that business. I have purchased three automobiles through Stew Hansen's, but the first two were through the real Stew Hansen that was on Ingersoll Avenue in DesMoines. I always had my cars serviced through the Stew Hansen service Department...with no problems and very good service. This company has changed in it's service department. Four years ago I purchased my Town & Country van with the help of Alan Chicione...exellent salesman who always called me after I had any service done on my van to make sure I was still happy and to contact him if I was considering a new or different vehicle. I actually can not say enough good things about the sales or sales support team at Stew Hansen...but I will probably not ever go back to Stew Hansen. Proper service on any mechanical is very important...be it your furnace system, your computer, or your car...and the service department at the new Stew Hansen on Hickman is not the reliable service department that was on Ingersoll. It took three attempts for the service department to figure out what the grinding noise was when I drove my van...they put on new stuts but the noice continued. Next appointment they assured me it was fixed...it wasn't. The third appointment they said it was actually a bad part within the power steering...that turned out to be the real problem....well, at least I have new struts! I continued having my van serviced by Stew Hansen. The next thing that went wrong was the driver side automatic window motor needed to be replaced. The window operation was fixed with the new motor, but the technician sliced up the inside door panel and weather stripping when he removed the inside door panel. I pointed the damage out right away but Marco said his technician did not do the damage. He said they would replace the damaged weather stripping though...but only because I was a good, loyal repeat customer. I had not sliced up my own door panel! He said he would call me when the new ordered weather stripping was delivered. I waited a week...no call. I called him to find out that the weather stripping was there and to schedule another appointment but I had to wait another week. So...a week later I have the factory issued weather stripping installed, but then the inside door handle won't work correctly...so I had to make another appointment. At this appointment Marco said that the handle spring may need to be replace and that it was nothing they did when they put back the door panel. I pointed out to him that the door panel was shifted forward and not put back correctly and that the weatherstrip was all uneven and waffled. I was treated like I was just a complainer, even though everything I said was true and that is when the service manager, Todd Giblin, came out and tried to handle the problem. He did see that the door panel was chipped and covered in oil and that the panel was shifted and that the door handle and door still was not functioning correctly. He said he would take the car back to the technican and an hour later it was finally fixed somewhat, but still not correct. It will cost me even more money...but I plan on taking my van to Karl Chevy to have the problems fixed and to have my regular maintainence done...I understand that they also have a good sales staff, so if their service department is better (and the reviews say excellent service Dept.) I will probably buy my next vehicle through Karl ! Sorry Alan...you were an excellent sales person. More

I am new to the area and dropped in on a Saturday morning for an oil change. I was surprised that their prices were very competitive for Des Moines. I got a free 23 point vehicle inspection and Marco informe for an oil change. I was surprised that their prices were very competitive for Des Moines. I got a free 23 point vehicle inspection and Marco informed me that I would need front brakes replaced soon. The price quote was very reasonable and he set up an appointment for me immediately. Even gave me a free shuttle ride to work when I dropped off my car. The price I was quoted was exactly what my bill reflected. No surprise charges like some other places in town. A complimentary wash and mini-detail was included with my service work. The staff at Stew Hansen's is very friendly. I will definitely be returning for future service! More
