Originally from Philadelphia, I attended college in Florida then started with the Crown organization in St. Petersburg, Florida, August of 1984. In 2005, we moved to Ohio (my wife and two children) which turned out to be a wonderful decision. Our family enjoys the seasons and we have made many friends since arriving and both of my children will now be graduating from The Ohio State University. I am proud and grateful to have such a dedicated staff at the Crown Automotive Group of Dublin and we are blessed with thousands of great customers!

We are very disappointed and surprised that you would give us this negative review as there is much more to the story. Adding that you have driven more than 150,000 miles would have put this in context. You purchased the preowned Mercedes GL350 Bluetec Diesel ($90k MSRP when new) in August 2014 with 13,000 miles. Today it has 163,000 miles. For the average person that drives 12k miles per year, after 5 years based on your experience on your vehicle, they would not have had any repairs to pay for besides the scheduled services, a set of tires, and brakes. That would have been 5 years for less than $5k. In just routine services over 150,000 miles, plus 3 sets of new tires, brakes, and a broken windshield the cost was $14853. Your first repair* was the suspension at 72,429 miles - $2839. Next was an oil leak at 92k miles plus Axle boot replacement - $3827 Next a sway bar at 115k miles - $846 Next rear shocks at 136k miles -$2246 Next door latch / misc at 148k $854 Next check engine light and third row seat issue@ 152k miles - $1413 Last was an oil leak at 162k miles - $2458 *although one would not consider shock absorbers and certain suspension components routine maintenance items – between 60,000 and 160,000 miles they do become items that need attention as they would on any vehicle – especially on a high performance vehicle. Since your initial contact a couple weeks back (the first complaint in five years) we’ve been working on your behalf. I have left two messages and spoken to you once before you left town for a week. The service director and I both tried together to contact you together. All in all, there have been 9 calls made to either the (314) or (614) phone numbers according to our phone system within the last two weeks. We searched and found eight 2015 (last year made) GL350 Bluetecs with miles in the 30k range. Our idea was that if you purchased one that was Mercedes-Benz certified, you could have an additional 3 years warranty coverage with unlimited mileage. Our General Sales Manager, using the payoff you gave me, called to go over the options using the number we have in our records. Your husband answered stating that you did not want another vehicle but did ask about the price of an extended service contract – with 163,000 miles we only have one that only extends 12,000 miles for $3k which would not fit your needs as this would be used up in less than 4 months. Again, we did not recommend this, as one of your reviews states. He along with our service director contacted our Mercedes-Benz liaison to look over your vehicle’s history - your husband was told this - that we would get MBUSA involved to look over the history for his opinion – to see if they would help with a ‘trade assist’. This is when your reviews were posted…we have never heard anything else. Sincerely, Marc Wigler, President and General Manager

Dear “flysouth42”. You left out some very important facts from your review. The facts are that you arrived on a Saturday with no appointment demanding a loaner vehicle and when the service advisor explained that all 52 of our loaner vehicles were either out with clients, or reserved for Monday appointments, you caused a scene and called him every expletive in the book. It was decided on Monday that we were not the right fit with your aggressive and abusive method of communication. We will not tolerate anybody verbally abusing our employees and so requested that you pick up the vehicle. When you arrived, you claimed we damaged your bumper which had two areas of damage; a scuff on one side and significant damage on the other. Your companion stated that the significant issue was there prior to your visit. Even though we were fairly certain that we did not cause the scuff, as it had signs that it had been there for a while, our Service Director, Mr. Kinniard, offered you compensation towards a repair simply so that you would leave and not return. $500 would have been more than enough to fix the scuff, although of course, you received estimates to replace the entire bumper. You did follow through with your threat of “posting negative reviews” if we did not comply with your demands. It’s unfortunate that you chose to interact with us in such a negative manner. Cool heads speaking together to resolve concerns is always the best approach. That is always our preferred manner, but based on your aggressive behavior from the outset, it is certainly not a sentiment you share. Sincerely, Marc Wigler, President and General Manager
