of Chattanooga. In the process, I found out that capital Toyota was owned by the same people. Since I want to buy a Tacoma, I intended to go there because the service I got at Lexus of Chattanooga was outstanding. But the two are like night and day.
I went to the website and started looking at Tacomas available and pricing, as well as incentives. Of course, you can't get any information without giving your contact info, so I did. I was contacted by a representative and I explained clearly that it would be several months before I was ready to buy, having just bought one car. No problem so far.
Then a few weeks ago I get an email from her saying since I haven't bought anything they are going to delete my file. Hmmm, I explained previously that it would be a while and went to the trouble of giving them my information, but now they want to delete it all because I haven't bought anything yet. Not good customer service. So I reply to the email that it is fine for them to delete it since I won't be buying from them. I will now go to North Georgia Toyota. I get a reply with the old excuse that the computer did it.
I have some experience in sales. I would NEVER leave customer relations to a computer. I have no desire to work with any business that leaves customer relations to a computer.
I found the email for the general manager and emailed him simply to tell him how and why he lost a customer. I gave the details, and more, listed above. I didn't want anything from them at that point, I just felt it was right to tell them why they ran off a customer.
But the response I got made it even worse. The GM didn't contact me back. He had one of his assistants do it! The assistant wanted to "fix" things. Well, if there was any hope it would have been if the guy I sent the email to responded, not one of his subordinates. At that point there was no hope for getting my business. North Georgia Toyota here I come.

Dear wrcooke,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. First and foremost, we’re truly sorry that your recent interaction with Capital Toyota didn’t reflect the high level of care and attentiveness you received at Lexus of Chattanooga. We take great pride in providing a warm, thoughtful, and respectful experience at both of our stores, and it’s clear we missed that mark for you.
After reading your message, we understand how frustrating it must have felt to receive an email about your file being deleted—especially after clearly sharing your timeline and intentions. While the message was automatically generated by our CRM system as part of a routine clean-up process, we recognize that technology should never come at the expense of a personal touch. That’s something we continue to work on, and feedback like yours helps guide those improvements.
As for the response from our general manager’s assistant, please know it was never intended to diminish the importance of your feedback. Quite the opposite—our GM often asks trusted team members to respond on his behalf so we can act quickly and begin making things right. We understand how that might have felt impersonal in this case, and we’re genuinely sorry it added to your disappointment.
While it may be too late to change your mind, we still appreciate the opportunity you gave us and hope you’ll consider this experience as a bump in the road rather than the whole journey. If your path ever leads back to Capital Toyota, we’d love the chance to welcome you with the genuine care and hospitality that inspired your initial interest.
Wishing you and your wife many happy miles in your new vehicle and a great experience wherever you choose to go next.
Warm regards,
The Capital Toyota Team
