Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention and congratulations of the birth of twins. I hope they are doing well. Bristol Toyota prides itself on selling reliable, quality pre-owned vehicles and we stand behind those vehicles. The vehicle you purchased underwent a thorough mechanical and appearance reconditioning process prior to it being offered for sale. In fact, the dealership spent $1,787.38 in mechanical repairs and maintenance prior to your purchase. The brakes at that time were measured to be in spec and should have provided many months and miles of service prior to needing replacement. Whenever there is an issue or problem with a used vehicle, we ask that the consumer bring it to our Service Department for inspection and resolution. Your vehicle has a 12 month, 12,000 mile comprehensive warranty extension from Toyota which would have covered the repairs if any of the brake components (calipers, for instance) were faulty and caused a premature or uneven wearing of the front brake pads. Instead, the vehicle was brought to another Toyota dealership 7.8 miles away who charged you for repairs that might have been covered by your warranty. I understand that you did not authorize that dealership to replace the rear pads. Please allow us to inspect the condition of the rear brakes at Bristol Toyota so we can determine the condition, and cause if any, of excess wear of your rear brake pads and rotors. We would be happy to pick up your vehicle, provide a loaner vehicle, and drop it back off after we have had a chance to inspect the condition of the rear brakes and make any necessary repairs. Additionally, we would take the opportunity to inspect the operation of the front brakes and all components to ensure their proper operation. As requested by Victor Sousa in our Service Department, I am hopeful that the other Toyota dealership provided you the replaced front brake parts for inspection since there premature failure is unusual. I am disappointed to learn that our personnel were not immediately more responsive. We have built our reputation over 30 years by providing customers a great purchase and ownership experience, I am going to check our internal records tomorrow AM to see what the brakes measured prior to sale. We would not have sold the vehicle had the brakes been low and needing immediate attention. I wish we had had the opportunity to review the condition of the brakes before another dealership charged you $1,000 for a repair that may have been unnecessary.
