I recently worked with Diane at West Side GM regarding a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox for my son. Since I live 4 hours away, I asked for very detailed information before making the trip. Diane did send me a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox for my son. Since I live 4 hours away, I asked for very detailed information before making the trip. Diane did send me a walk around video, but unfortunately it was raining and hard to see any detail. I specifically asked if there were scratches, dents, etc., and her response was essentially that she didn’t notice any but would check again when the rain stopped. I never received that follow-up. Based on the information provided, I placed a deposit and made the 4-hour drive to the dealership. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the vehicle had multiple rock chips, scratches, and dents, several of which were quite significant. Diane was not working that day, so I showed the issues to another salesperson, who spoke with the sales manager. Their response was to offer $150 off to fix some of the dents, which I agreed to at that point. However, after signing paperwork and preparing to leave, I discovered the passenger front door was rubbing against the front fender, with paint already worn off from the contact. Closer inspection showed the fender was pushed in. The salesman brushed it off as “just a used vehicle.” I was able to pull the fender out enough to get the door to clear, but by the time we returned home, it was rubbing again. Afterward, Diane followed up to thank me for the purchase. I explained my disappointment and also noted other issues, such as paint peeling on the driver’s side B pillar moldings and the fact that the vehicle smelled of smoke—none of which had been disclosed. I stressed that while I understand this is a 7-year-old vehicle, I felt it was significantly misrepresented, especially considering I drove 8 hours round trip based on the information I was given. Diane’s manager, John, later called me. While I explained everything politely and said I wasn’t asking them to fix every minor issue, I did expect some compensation for the major items that had not been disclosed. His response was simply that he has been in the car business for 40 years, he wasn’t interested in “he said, she said,” and they wouldn’t be doing anything further. Overall, I left very disappointed. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and dismissive response from management made this a frustrating experience. I would strongly caution others—especially those traveling from out of town—to be extremely careful and demand full transparency before committing to a purchase. More

Both John and the dealership in general were accommodating and easy to work with. I drove over 100 miles because I was looking for this particular car and I wasn't disappointed accommodating and easy to work with.
