My wife and I were in the market for a 2021/2022 Honda Pilot. We researched online and found 2 locally that we began the process with online, and then made appointments for on a Sat morning. There was a 3rd at Grieco Honda that was a CPO vehicle, but it was just a little above what the other vehicles were priced at. We had done our prep as I am fairly knowledgeable in the car buying process. We got appraisals and offers from CarMax/KBB for our trade. We also got pre-approved at our credit union. We set out that Sat and went to both dealerships as planned. We threw out the first for multiple reasons The 2nd went well. We liked the vehicle and the trade offer was within $175 of what CarMax was offering. The Dealer also welcomed outside financing. We went for a quick bite to eat and told our salesman we'd be back in 30 minutes. While having lunch my wife noticed that the Pilot at Grieco had been reduced by $900. We decided to call and verify the vehicle was still available, the price, and that it was a CPO vehicle. The woman we spoke with said yes. We called back and made an appointment to see the car. When we arrived at Grieco a few hours later, we were assigned Marina as a saleswoman. She was very down to earth and knowledgeable. We were honest with her and explained we had visited two other dealerships but when we saw the vehicle at Grieco had a price drop we figured we'd take a look at it. After a test drive(Marina came with us and was very helpful), we went inside to start the process. I had all my paperwork from the other dealers and carmax/ KBB regarding trade/purchase offers. In addition I gave her my pre-approval finance info. Most times I would never disclose this as it does give the dealer leverage, but in this case we had a deal on the table waiting for us, and if Grieco played too much we had no problem walking away. We knew what our trade was worth and since Grieco had no haggle advantage pricing, it was fairly straight forward. Marina took our information to the managers and they appraised our car. When she returned the trade offer was much lower than both dealers from the morning as well, as KBB and Carmax. However, the MAJOR issue and one that almost had us walk out was that Marina told us she was informed the vehicle for sale was no longer a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle. You can imagine our shock and great displeasure, as not only had the website said it the previous day, but it was confirmed when I called Grieco earlier in the day. Marina told me she was told they thought it was removed because of the price drop, and if I would like they could make it a CPO vehicle(for a fee). My wife and I were very unhappy. We drove over an hour and felt this was a classic dealer bait and switch tactic. I told Marina I wanted to speak to a manager. It should be noted Marina was very polite and understanding of our concerns. The sales manager John soon arrived. I explained everything to him. John said he did not know how the mistake was made, but that he was sorry. My wife showed him that although the CPO title was now removed from Grieco's website it still showed CPO on Car Gurus and Cars.com. In addition on the Carfax shown to us by Grieco it was listed as being offered as a CPO vehicle. John again apologized and took ownership. Eventually he came back closer to the trade number the other dealers offered and honored the CPO offer on the vehicle. Although, in the end our payment was just a little higher than the other dealer's vehicle, the CPO coverage sealed the deal. Finance office hit a hiccup as we were told we couldn't use outside financing at first, but after explaining we had already been told we could by both Marina and by John, and that we would walk away if we couldn't(or they matched the rate). They finally agreed to let us use our credit union. Marina was very nice throughout and John was extremely professional. He saved a sale for Grieco. More

Good afternoon, I am writing to let you know about my recent experience and purchase at Grieco Honda. I recently visited your Johnston dealership the week of Thanksgiving looking for information and comp recent experience and purchase at Grieco Honda. I recently visited your Johnston dealership the week of Thanksgiving looking for information and comparisons regarding the Honda Pilot and Honda Passport. I was currently driving a 2010 Honda Pilot that was the workhorse vehicle for my family. Prior to that I had driven a 2005 Honda Accord. Both vehicles I loved and had hoped to stay with the Honda line for my next purchase. Upon my arrival at the dealership I was greeted warmly by Dante Lewis. I was on my lunch break and explained that I was only seeking to find out information. Dante understood that and started with a few key questions about what I was looking for in a vehicle and proceeded to continue with a few more key questions that after hearing my responses led us to begin talking about the Honda Passport, specifically a 2023 Pre Owned Honda Passport TrailSport with extremely low milage on display in the showroom. Dante walked me over to the vehicle and walked me through many of it's features which I appreciated knowing I did not have a great deal of time. He also explained that this vehicle was eligible for Certified Pre Owned Warranties. That was a key point in our conversation and I asked him to expound and he did. I took some time and extended my lunch hour to really take a good look at the vehicle. We chatted some more and he continued to impress me with his knowledge about the Passport. He explained some other incentive packages that might be available, all the while never making me feel pressured or pressed to make a decision. We ended our conversation with the possibility that my husband and I might come back on Black Friday to look again. Unfortunately after discussing the vehicle with my husband and going over the numbers we felt it might be best to wait until our original target date in May 2024 to make our purchase. Dante reached out with a courtesy call to me on Black Friday and I explained our position and he was understanding and gracious and again did not pressure us in any way to even come down to take another look. At that point I did tell him I was so impressed with him as a salesperson that even though I was not going to purchase the passport, He earned my business and my future referrals!! Fast froward to Saturday 12/2/23 when I was home and involved with a bathroom painting project when I received a voice mail from Dante explaining that the Passport was still available and with some new incentives he was really hoping to see us and have us take another look, take a test drive and talk about the numbers once again. I must say, still no pressure, just a good salesman reaching out with an honest inquiry. My husband and I did stop our painting project, drove to Grieco where Dante was there to meet us. We sat down, spoke about the vehicle in more detail and yes took an extensive test drive that included Dante's thorough explanation and guidance through many of the vehicles features. We were impressed with both Dante and the Passport. Now for the fun.... Now it was time to discuss the numbers and if this purchase would work for us, especially since we were not really prepared at this time to make this deal happen. I was completely transparent with what our bottom line was and what we were prepared to deal with. I have to admit it did take some time and Dante making several trips back to his General Manager. I also must emphasize again that we let Dante know he was doing an amazing job with everything and if not this time we would be back and deal with him for our future purchase. Well it did work out and in the end he and his Manager John, who was also extremely low pressure and respectful of our position and Ricardo in finance helped us reach our goal for terms with a great deal.
