Hi Latoya. My name is Nick. I'm the one who spoke to you guys the first time you were in on that Saturday about the insurance stuff. I discussed the situation with service and Dan. There are a few things I just wanted to address. First of all, I apologize for the coolant leak. Unfortunately, anytime someone trades a vehicle in to us, there is no way for us to know what the previous dealer found wrong with the vehicle. When they told the previous customer about the coolant leak, it was probably too expensive for the previous owner to repair and therefore, they just had it cleaned off so it wouldn't be visible and then traded it in. This happens quite often and it's just something that we have to deal with on a case by case basis when we take vehicles in on trade. We do a quick road test on all of our vehicles to be sure that they are safe and that we don't hear any irregular noises but not extended drives. If tires get below a certain point, we replace them. If brakes go below a certain point, we replace them. If we have no record of an oil change or air filter replacement, we do that as well. And so on and so forth. That would explain why the check engine light came on and the coolant leak was found. Because once it was a longer drive and the car got up to full operating temperature, the pressure in the cooling system alerted the car that there was an issue and it triggered the check engine light because of the leak. We would never just turn a check engine light off without investigating and correcting the issue. Which is exactly why we replaced the water pump and hose for you the next chance that we got at our expense. If there were any major issues found on the vehicle during inspection, we wouldn't even sell the vehicle to a customer. I would send it to the dealer auction and move on. As far as the other items that the Audi dealer pointed out during your inspection, that service advisor did exactly what they get paid to do. And that is to try to upsell preventative maintenance. Especially if you didn't buy the car from them. They will point out everything that is showing a little wear and tear in the vehicle with the hopes that someone spends some money with them because they don't know any better. And we both know that an Audi will be more expensive to service at the Audi dealer than it would be anywhere else. For example, they said the motor mounts could use replacement. The motor mounts are made of rubber. In this dry desert heat, rubber starts to show wear fairly quickly. But the only way to know if the motor mounts are completely failed, is if you are ever at a complete stop and you hit the gas, you will hear a loud thump coming from the front of the car. That is when it's time to replace the motor mounts because that's when you know they went bad. Hence the reason our techs take a quick test drive in every vehicle to listen for things like that amongst other things. But they basically said the motor mounts may go out in 5k miles or 40k miles so you should spend your money with them now and replace them asap. There is no way for them to tell you when your rubber wiper blades will go bad and the same goes for rubber motor mounts. And although I can't be mad about their service advisor trying to make themselves and their employer some money, it causes confusion and misunderstanding as it did in this situation. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at NV@LVMitsubishi.com.
