I recently leased a 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited from Coconut Creek Hyundai (“Dealer”). While the sales aspect regarding the price and terms was professionally and responsively handled by the Dealer’s S Coconut Creek Hyundai (“Dealer”). While the sales aspect regarding the price and terms was professionally and responsively handled by the Dealer’s Sales Dept., the ensuing nightmare began with the Finance Manager. The transaction was structured, documented, and paid for as a FL license plate transfer, which the Finance Manager should have known as he completed all the paperwork after his salesman installed the transferred tag on the new vehicle. When I left the Dealer and arrived home some 150 miles later, I discovered that the registration and the tag sticker had a wrong license plate number and not the one from my transferred tag. Since the vehicle thus could not be lawfully operated, I immediately contacted the Dealer, but the Finance Manager was not responsive in spite of my repeated and persistent efforts to contact him. I was therefore compelled to elevate the matter to the Dealer’s General Manager who forwarded my urgent request to the Finance Director. Only then did the Finance Manager return my call albeit in a very curt and unprofessional manner, and many days after my initial contact. He offered to mail me a new license plate, with a corresponding registration card and a new tag sticker, even though the transferred tag number originally mounted on the vehicle was different and sequential with my other vehicle, and was the main reason for the tag transfer, in the first place. The Finance Manager’s incompetence and ignorance were quite obvious. Finally, and thanks to the Dealer’s Finance Director’s subsequent direct intervention, this nightmare was finally brought to an end! More
