I expressed interest in a 2020 McLaren 720S that they had for sale. I was told by the salesman that they would consider any reasonable offer. I made an offer and they responded with “no”. I asked for a count for sale. I was told by the salesman that they would consider any reasonable offer. I made an offer and they responded with “no”. I asked for a counteroffer and they said full price. I made two additional offers and both were rejected without a counter. I told the salesman to contact me if they decided to sell for less than the current price. A few weeks later I noticed on their website that they lowered the price. The salesman never contacted me. I called him and made an offer within $5,000 of the asking price and was again rejected. I ended up settling on full price and started the process of buying the car. I asked the salesman to let me know about financing options and he put me in contact with their finance manager. The rates they offered were all slightly high. I ended up financing locally. When it came to registering the car she said that they had to take care of it. I explained that the last McLaren I purchased took 5 months for the paperwork to be processed and that the dealer had to send several temporary plates so I could continue driving the car. The finance manager suggested that I just put the plates from my other car on the new car and run it. I explained that was considered illegal attachment in my state and that I was a.former police officer. She immediately changed her tune and said that she was not suggesting that I do it but she was telling me what other people had done. I was able to negotiate a four wheel alignment on the car. The salesman tried to convince me that it was aligned already as that was part of the CPO inspection. I said that I had never heard of that before and wanted it checked. The car was significantly out of alignment. I had to ask for the paperwork to confirm the measurements before and after. The salesman came back to me and said that the alignment cost more than he anticipated and asked me to pay for it. I refused of course. He then asked if I would at least pay half. I told him that I paid full price for the car and he had done nothing to add to the deal or help me out. The car was shipped to my residence in an enclosed trailer. When it arrived it was filthy. I’m not exaggerating, I had to use the windshield wipers to be able to see out the front. The dealership charged $500 for a detailing fee. I called the salesman and he said that the car was clean when it left so too bad for me. I put the car in my garage and as I was cleaning it I found a significant amount of asphalt on the underside of each door. I sent a video of the doors to the salesman and he said that it must have happened when I drove the car from the delivery trailer into my garage. Yeah, right…. My overall experience with Suburban Exotics was miserable from start to finish. The only reason that I continued with the transaction was because of the car. It was the spec and color that I wanted otherwise I would have bailed very early on. I would suggest to any potential buyers out there to expect an unprofessional interaction with this dealership from start to finish. Knowing this going in will set your expectations and anything better will be a pleasant surprise. More
