agreed price and attempting to complete the purchase
I am writing this review to share my experience with Mark Christopher Auto Center regarding a 2015 GMC Canyon SLT 4WD Crew Cab:
I live about two hours away and made it clear from my first communication that I needed the true out-the-door (OTD) price before making the drive. The dealership provided a breakdown showing the vehicle price, DMV fees, documentation fee, taxes, and no additional add-ons.
The original OTD price provided was approximately $27,026. After discussions, I made an offer of $25,000 OTD, explaining that while the truck had low miles, it was still a 10+ year old vehicle. I later increased my offer to $25,500 OTD.
Mario Sanchez contacted me and stated he spoke with management. His exact words were:
"And You Win"
Based on that communication, I believed my offer had been approved and we were moving forward. I was ready to purchase and was not asking for anything else.
I immediately left work early and went to my credit union. I provided proof of pre-approval and explained that I wanted to use my own financing. The only thing needed was a proper purchase order so my credit union could issue the check.
Greg Hess agreed to provide the purchase order. The PDF sent to my credit union and me contained blank pages with a vertical black line on the side. My banker reviewed it and confirmed the document was unusable.
I immediately notified the dealership and requested a proper signed purchase order.
The next morning, after being asked if my credit union received the paperwork, I explained we only received blank pages. I was told it would be resent.
Shortly afterward, I received this message:
"I just checked looks like that truck sold last night."
I was then offered a different vehicle.
The disappointing part is that I had:
Received confirmation that management approved my $25,500 OTD offer
Left work early
Gone to my bank
Provided financing approval
Worked with both my credit union and the dealership to receive the proper paperwork
After being told the Canyon had sold, I checked the listing and it was still showing available. I also had another person submit an availability request and they received 2 responses indicating the vehicle was available. I was told the dealership system would update when third-party sites refreshed.
I understand vehicles sell and that a purchase is not final until paperwork is signed. My issue is the communication and process. I was actively trying to complete the purchase, but the paperwork needed from the dealership was not properly sent and there communication stopped until the morning, and shortly afterward I was told the vehicle was sold.
This review is based on my experience and the written communication I received from the dealership.

At Mark Christopher Auto Center, we aim to provide clear coordination, accurate documentation, and a smooth process from offer acceptance through final purchase completion, especially when customers are traveling from a distance and coordinating with outside lenders.
Unfortunately, we do not hold advertised units for sale. It wouldn’t be fair to other customers also traveling far to purchase the same unit. We make it fair for a first come first served on a purchase of any new and used vehicle so it is fair to any and all customers traveling far to purchase the same unit. We do ensure that we inform all customers about this prior to travel to our location.

I wish your team cared when I was working this deal with them and left work early to get this done. The truck is gone now, so I'm not sure what help you would be to me. Maybe if you were there to correct their shortcomings, you could have helped. Your sales guy had the nerve to try and blame my bank for the failures your staff exhibited. "Not capable of sending a signed purchase order, I did receive a bunch of blank pages." They even suggested my banker just wanted to do the bare minimum when, in fact, that was your team's attitude. The funniest thing about this is, I came to your team to buy a truck. Your team did very little work on this deal other than asking management if my offer would be accepted. When it was accepted, your staff tried to make me feel like they had gone above and beyond. "This was a statement I got in a text from a phone ending with 9727." After Frank Vera confirmed to my friend with 2 different emails that you still had the truck, your team seems to try and make people feel like they are doing you a favor by selling you a vehicle. I emailed you this morning. If you would like to discuss something, that is where I do it.

I never asked your team to save the truck for me. I simply needed a signed purchase order that your team apparently didn't know how to send because all i got were blank pages. I did my part and would have been there to get the truck but the failures of your staff impacted my ability to get a check from the bank. Seemed they were upset i got the deal i wanted. While I guess it was approved but i didn't really get it.
Frank was awesome.
He helped me every step of the way. I love my new car. Great dealership.
