They left my air intake box open allowing unfiltered air to bypass the filter and into the engine for close to 5000 miles. I went to replace my filter with a K&N just prior to my next service and discovered to bypass the filter and into the engine for close to 5000 miles. I went to replace my filter with a K&N just prior to my next service and discovered that the sales concierge had clipped the box closed at my last visit after trying to sell me a filter, but he didn't slide the plastic legs on the clip less side of the box through the holes that secure it closed. Instead the legs were just laying on top of the holes that they lock into, which leaves it open withe a 1 inch gap for raw air to be sucked into the engine. This is problematic as sand and debris was sucked into the intake, which will cause engine damage and premature wear and inevitably future issues with the vehicle. When I brought the car in for service the day I replaced the filter. I watched the concierge make the same mistake when he checked the filter and showed him how to properly secure the air box. I told him that I was watching for the mistake and why, and showed him the pictures that I took when I had discovered their previous mistake. The surprising thing is that this guy was not the same service concierge who checked my car in last time, which tells me that they are not properly trained to check these filters. He apologized and sent out his service manager when I asked (or a supervisor of some sort). The supervisor apologized and said that if there's nothing happening symptom wise there is isn't much we can do. I said that this is a big deal and will dramatically impact my engine going forward. He refused my suggestion to send out an oil analysis for silica and cleaning the throttle body. He just said all we can do is keep an eye on it, which i understood actually means that they will do absolutely nothing. To top it off they informed me that I had my last lifetime oil change for the year on my next visit. I wasn't informed that their was a limit when the salesman sold me the vehicle, nor is there a limit in the paperwork. That's rich because the one thing that could help clear contaminated raw materials from unfiltered air being introduced to my engine is fresh oil. The sales concierge team lay on the pressure every time I get Maus care. I explain that I have grown up working on cars in a family of mechanics and don't need my filter shown to me, but they say they have to show it to me. Please stop, and have an actual mechanic do that rather than a guy who isn't trained. I don't recommend Maus Nissan. Dealer Rater won't publish my 1 star rating, so I had to rate Maus 5 stars to publish this. More
