Earlier this year, we purchased a 2025 Chevy Trax from Bob Steele Chevrolet for our teenage children, who are new drivers. We are newer to the area, and this dealership was the first one we visited. Our s Bob Steele Chevrolet for our teenage children, who are new drivers. We are newer to the area, and this dealership was the first one we visited. Our son and daughter liked the vehicle, so we made the purchase that same day. In November, the emissions light came on. We scheduled an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, routine maintenance, and to have the emissions light checked. When we arrived for that scheduled appointment, we were told the service department “didn’t have time” to do anything for us. This was extremely disappointing. If the department was behind, a simple phone call could have saved us an unnecessary trip. At that time, we were told the emissions issue was a known problem and that the repair would require approximately 2–3 days. Because we were planning to be out of town and our children would not need the vehicle for school or work, we rescheduled the service for four weeks later. On December 19, we dropped the vehicle off again for the same services: oil change, tire rotation, routine maintenance, and diagnosis of the emissions issue. While we were in the Bahamas, I received a text from the service department stating that the technician believed the vehicle likely needed a fuel filler pipe under Service Bulletin 25-NA-335. However, because no diagnostic report had been run previously when the light was on—and because the light had since turned off—nothing could be done. We were told we would need to bring the vehicle back *a third time* once the light reappeared. This was incredibly frustrating, particularly given that we had already been turned away once without any diagnostics being performed. Today, eight days after dropping the car off, I returned to pick it up. I was handed the keys and service paperwork indicating that **no maintenance had been performed at all**. I was informed that nothing was done aside from checking whether the emissions light was currently on. After two separate visits and a total of eight days in your service department, the vehicle still has not even received an oil change. I asked to speak with the service manager, who was not available. Instead, I was approached by Billy Olsen, General Manager. Mr. Olsen arrived with a smirk and asked what he could do. I calmly explained the November appointment where we were turned away, the lack of communication, and the fact that the vehicle had again been kept for days with no maintenance performed. His response was essentially, “So what? We were busy. It happens.” I explained that a simple phone call would have been basic customer service. I also noted that I have owned Toyotas for many years and that, by comparison, this service experience had been extremely disappointing. I stated that I was looking for reassurance that this level of service would not be routine. Mr. Olsen scoffed and told me I should “go buy a Toyota.” That is precisely what I intend to do. I expect to lose approximately $10,000 reselling a 2025 Chevy Trax with only 3,000 miles, but that is a small price to pay for peace of mind—knowing my children will have a reliable vehicle and that our business will be valued. We purchase new vehicles nearly every year, and this experience has ensured that none of those future purchases will be made at Bob Steele Chevrolet. Based on our repeated service failures, lack of communication, and dismissive treatment by senior management, I strongly recommend that prospective customers take their business elsewhere. More
