Although I bought my car here and have visited the service department for regularly scheduled service appointments over the last few years, I was prodigiously disappointed with my most recent service service department for regularly scheduled service appointments over the last few years, I was prodigiously disappointed with my most recent service appointment. Upon arriving for a scheduled visit at 3:30 PM, the designated rep continuously tried to add additional and incredibly expensive “preventative” services to my simple oil change and tire rotation. When I asked questions about it, she was vague in her responses and said these services were due and had to be done. I explained I was a young public school teacher and was on a budget. The car is only two and a half years old; it only has 30,000 miles and no issues to speak of. After 1.5 hours of waiting, the mechanic finally started working on my car at 5:00 PM. At 5:06 PM, I received a phone call to please visit the service desk. The rep showed me an extensive list of items in “critical condition that had to be fixed immediately,” outlined by big red “X” marks. These included a throttle body service, HVAC system service, and fuel injection service. She also showed me a list of “cautionary items” and pushed me to also fix those. I asked “do these HAVE to be done?” And she replied “yes.” The bill would be well over $1,000. I explained my confusion because I was only there for a simple oil change. She said the mechanic “had to fix these items” and “the driver breathes in the dirty air conditioning so the HVAC service was necessary.” I tentatively agreed to fix only a few of the items marked “critical,” including new windshield wipers and various filters which were fair add-ons. They then told me to wait until 6:00 PM. After 10 minutes, I raced back to the desk and asked them to cancel everything except the initial oil change, tire rotation, wipers, and filters - I had Googled the three services (HVAC, fuel injection, and throttle body) and learned that cars with only 30,000 miles didn’t need any of the maintenance this rep had falsely advertised as “critical and extremely necessary.” I had also talked to a family member (a long standing patron of this same establishment) who said the rep and mechanic were trying to take advantage of my naivety and to try to stop the unnecessary preventative services immediately as they were not in fact “critical.” The rep and the mechanic said they had already finished most of the services (after approximately 10 minutes since I initially left the desk - which seemed incredibly suspicious, especially for the amount of time the total appointment took) and couldn’t stop or refund the price. They finally agreed to eliminate one preventative service (fuel injection) which they hadn’t started yet but the final bill was well over $600.00. The mechanic himself was unapologetic and claimed “everyone is entitled to their opinions” after it was explained how these services appeared to be unnecessary. Although I was naive in trusting the dealership, I was beyond upset that they essentially took advantage of me, brushed off my questions, and presented the add-ons as absolutely necessary and dangerous to ignore. I was a loyal customer and they knew I was a local school teacher without hundreds of dollars to spend on unnecessary services. I felt incredibly silly and disappointed after essentially being expertly conned into paying so much money. To add insult to injury, I waited for 2.5 hours for 30 minutes worth of auto work. I will not be patronizing or recommending this predatory dealership again. More

My first experience with Acton Toyota was when they helped me locate a reasonably priced used Toyota sienna to help with our move from Boston to Acton. Normally this would not be so impressive, but thi helped me locate a reasonably priced used Toyota sienna to help with our move from Boston to Acton. Normally this would not be so impressive, but this was in the middle of the pandemic when used vehicles were very hard to come by and super expensive. Since then we have acquired two more Toyotas in our family, and all three have been serviced capably and reliably by the folks at Acton Toyota for the last five years. The capstone to this story is that I have just leased my newest vehicle from them, a 2025 RAV4 PHEV, Which they also helped me procure when stock was very thin on the ground during the run up to the rebates expiring. They helped me find one and get into it just before the rebates went away. They have always been very clear and helpful with their communications, the sales team is never hard-sell in any way, the service department Always provides clear explanations of their estimates and the repairs they plan to do, and all in all we are very happy being a four Toyota family with Acton Toyota! always come to dealership because I trust them to do a great job I was told my car's radiator was caput and lower hose and clamp needed replacement too. this time however, I declined and went to anothe great job I was told my car's radiator was caput and lower hose and clamp needed replacement too. this time however, I declined and went to another mechanic for second opinion was told " absolutely nothing wrong with the radiator, and clamp holding hose seemed to be loose and leaking coolant, I saved 1500 getting this second opinion" My trust in this dealership has been effected to say the least Caution ! I realize this is a busy dealership but im left wondering now if mechanics , advisors getting extra money for drumming up phantom repairs? I say the advisor too, because he warned me my car could overheat if I didnt do the repairs asap. More
