Where do I even begin to review this monumental waste of a dealership as well as Mazda in general? Our lease was up on a CX9 and we were looking to buy it out and keep the car. Called Mazda financial for th a dealership as well as Mazda in general? Our lease was up on a CX9 and we were looking to buy it out and keep the car. Called Mazda financial for the payoff and was ready to send them the money. They tell me that they will not allow this to be done on the phone or online, we have to go through a dealership. Mind you, I just did the same thing with Honda a few weeks earlier and was able to just go on the website, make the payment, fill out an Odometer disclosure form, and they sent me the title within a couple weeks. So we go to Coast Mazda to take care of this and they want to charge me an extra $999 over the payoff. I told them I would not pay it. They brought in 3 different people to tell me that there's no way to take this off the computer, they're making no money off this deal, etc. I was not happy, but what am I going to do? I relented and sat in the finance office signing every piece of paper known to man just as if I walked in there to buy a new car off the lot. Needless to say, I was not happy. We wrap it up, and were told everything we signed would be emailed to us and left. The email never came. Over 2 and a half weeks, we called 6 times and left voicemails asking for a callback and/or the paperwork. We were completely ignored. Finally, it took me calling a seventh time and telling them I would not leave a voicemail and would wait on the phone until someone actually spoke to me. The gentlemen was nice and apologetic which I appreciated in a crappy situation. He immediately emailed me ONE PAGE of the paperwork we were promised. I look at the page he sent, which was the contract and noticed the $999 they charged us was for PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). They never even laid eyes on the vehicle. In fact, we drove a completely different car when we went. So much for them not making any $ on this deal. To wrap this up and to add insult to injury, all of this happened on January 11th. On February 3rd, we still do not have a title and Mazda Financial is telling me that we're late on payments for a car that we purchased, with cash at the dealership because that was their policy and that was the only way to handle a lease buyout through them. I then find, buried in the FAQ on Mazda Financial's website, instructions to just do everything on the website and skip the dealer just like I did with the Honda I spoke about earlier. So all of this was a monumental waste of time and aggravation. In closing, Coast Mazda and Mazda Financial are crooks and liars. Their dishonesty and shady practices caused me to lose $1000 at a time when I can't afford to just hand someone an extra $1K. This was my family's 5th Mazda and it will be the last. We will never again purchase anything from any of Coast's dealerships ever again either. Regardless of the brand. Edited to add more info on February 7: I called Mazda Financial yesterday to find out where my title is and why the account is still open almost a month later and we were getting messages saying we were past due on payments. The gentlemen that helped, stated that Coast Mazda did not send them an odometer disclosure form and surprise! They had made numerous efforts to contact them and received no response. He asked me to print the form on Mazda's website, fill it out and return it to him. I did this and less than 12 hours later, the loan is now closed. In conclusion, I paid Coast Mazda $1k to handle this, they didn't, they were uncommunicative to both myself, their customer, and Mazda Financial. I'm seriously considering a lawsuit. More
