I am writing this as a warning to any parent or buyer looking for a reliable vehicle. We purchased a Chevrolet Equinox from Cole and Blake at Atwater Chevrolet on 6/17/24. We were told, "I would buy this for my wife" by the sales person. Instead, this car has been a recurring safety disaster that has twice left a young woman stranded alone in dangerous conditions. The Timeline of a Nightmare: The 4-Month Mark (Oct 2024): Only four months after purchase, the engine failed on I-94 near Minneapolis, leaving a young woman alone on a busy highway at night. While Atwater replaced the timing chain at no charge (to be fair), this was clearly just a "band-aid" for a catastrophic underlying problem. Maintenance & Misrepresentation: We’ve invested over $4,000 in new parts and changed the oil every 2,800 miles. At the time of sale, there was NO indication or disclosure of the severe oil consumption issues known to plague these engines. We were sold a vehicle with a fundamentally compromised engine. The Second Catastrophe (Dec 2025): Just before Christmas, the nightmare repeated. On a freezing morning between Duluth and St. Cloud, the rear main seal and block blew out, dumping oil across the road and leaving a young woman stranded in the cold in a terrifyingly unsafe location. The Current Situation (Jan 8, 2026): The car is back at Atwater, and the lack of accountability is staggering. Do you truly want the hassel when buying a car.   Atwater is demanding tear-down fees just to "investigate" the failure of this Chevy Equinox. THE WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS: TRULY, SAVE YOUR MONEY. This Value Max warranty is absolutely worthless. Despite the catastrophic failure, the warranty company claims it is "not their issue." They are a horrible company to deal with—their "protection" the truly if you read all the fine print truly covers very little. Financial Burden: We are currently bleeding $500 a week in rental fees while paying a large loan on a vehicle that is currently worth nothing. This $500 a week could be spent on the loan but it is not as the Dealership is blaming the Warranty company. Final Verdict: No parent should ever have to worry about their child being stranded on a dark, freezing highway. Between a dealership that sold a known "oil burner" and is now ghosting us, and a warranty company that refuses to help, we have been left with no choice but to involve an attorney. BUYER BEWARE: Avoid Atwater Chevrolet and Value Max warranties at all costs. They do not stand behind what they sell beware of buying from this dealer.

Everything started out very well..... we were traveling 200 miles on a Saturday to test drive and purchase car on same day, and that did happen. Upon leaving we were handed the 2nd key fob. Later that evening finding that it did not open the car. And on opening the 'emergency key there were No groves cut in the key therefore the car would not open, as this makes sense. We contacted our sales representative, Angel who was very helpful and we had he would have a new 'entry Key' cut and mailed. In the meantime we purchase a new battery to see if this would help the fob, and no it didn't. A week later the key cut key arrived. We contacted Amery Chev. again regarding the fob and they said we could drive our car back to them, 200 miles one way, or go to our nearest Chev.dealer. Our hometown dealer said if the key had to be originally programmed to the car it would be an out of pocket cost to us. I discussed this with Amery and they said yes this is correct. I asked them if they would pay the local dealer and they would not, it would be an out of pocket cost to us. That the manager would not 'bend on this one', drive car back or pay out of pocket. We are very disappointed that we were given a defaulted key Fob and they would not go good on the product at their cost to accommodate their fault. Again, Angel the salesman did everything he could to help us on the day of the purchase and now. I would recommend him at anytime ! He gets a 5 Star rating. The dealer, well not so......... He was surrounded by a fantastic team, a finance manager Luis, who is very professional, patient & adamant to get us the best deal as well as a very involved and experienced used car manager, both working an hour past close to help. My wite was given the best treatment, demonstrated all the features and truly given nothing but sincere willingness to help and full attention with a no pressure approach. I will go out of my way to recommend this team and dealership and certainly we'll be back in the future!

Stay far away from them. We bought a beautiful low mileage truck with dash lights that they told us was a sensor issue. When we got it checked out, they were shocked we could even drive it the 2 hours home. The struts were cracked, the whole drivetrain was barely even on, and we've spent more on repairs than we paid for it. It's still having issues and we have gotten into serious debt because of this purchase. Don't waste your money here!

Oh my goodness! I was so leery of this company at first! Who in the world would drive all the way to Superior from Ashland to show me a vehicle I was interested in??? I loved the vehicle, so they let me put $500 down and brought it back for detailing. Then a few days later, they delivered it right to my home!! I can't say enough about Von Holzen!! My husband is in the hospital and he can't stop talking about Von Holzens service to all of the staff. He couldn't believe how they took care of me! They are definitely a company that prioritizes their customers!!

We were in need of a "new to us" vehicle, and we wanted Rick Schwab to show us what he had available on the lot. We test drove both used and new vehicles, and when we started crunching numbers, we realized purchasing a new car was the right choice for us at the time. Rick was wonderful to deal with - very knowledgeable and respectful, and his overall wish was for us to be happy with our purchase. We are happy, and thankful that Rick took the time to find out what our needs were and to match a vehicle to those needs. We definitely would buy another car here again!

I brought my vehicle in for service and they damagedon't my truck they did pay for the damage but would not cover my fuel for running around for estimates it's a 30 mile round trip to town which I would have to drive 4 times plus another vehicle with my wife to pick me up and drop me off when it's done. Also they never told me about the damage and they all knew about it thank god I saw it before I left the dealership mark Lance would not pay me 25.00 to cover fuel costs I will have from this . Mark Lance thinks it's funny that I ask for that he laughed in my face I will never do business with them again
