My family and I researched and compared several cars before deciding that a Hyundai Venue would suit our needs best. Then came the hard part: deciding which dealership to go to! I spent two days reading online reviews on google, yelp, dealerrater. I asked friends and acquaintances. I expanded my search from Manhattan to the Bronx, from Long Island to New Jersey. All I wanted was to do business with an honest, hardworking, respectful salesperson who doesn’t bait and switch, cut corners, or lie. When I saw Diana Almonte’s reviews, I wondered if they were too good to be true. But I thought she was worth giving a phone call. I narrowed my list to Diana at City World Hyundai and two other dealerships that I will not name. When I first called City World, I asked specifically for Diana. I was surprised when they transferred me immediately and she took my call. I was kind of expecting to leave a message. The two other Hyundai dealerships I called took forever to answer and the salespeople who responded talked down to me as if I had no idea what type of car I wanted. Maybe because they thought I’m just a woman…? By contrast, Diana respected that I had already done my research and knew exactly what car I wanted. She did not play games or waste my time. She promised to text me two quotes for the two colors I was considering. And in 5 minutes I got her text with the quotes. She told me that the color I really wanted was not at her dealership but that she would ask her manager Eddy (whom I later met and found to be super professional and considerate) to transfer to the City World dealership in a few days. I was simply blown away by Diana’s can-do, take-charge professionalism. She made sure that car was delivered to her lot in two days. I cannot stress enough how impressively effective Diana is. She obviously loves what she does. She pays full attention to details and told me step by step every single detail I had to take care of before we even set foot in the dealership. Nobody has time to waste! She gave me advice on what type of insurance coverage made sense for me which was a big help. She coordinated registration papers, the car transfer, everything. If I had a question about the process, she made me feel comfortable texting her. And she always responded immediately. Even on her day off!! When we arrived at the dealership, Diana already had the car fully detailed - not sure if this was even a requirement:) The car literally sparkled inside and out! While we were waiting for everything to be approved, we had a chance to observe Diana with other customers too. This woman treats every customer with incredible patience, respect. And she makes sure you get the car you need! She moves mountains! When it was time for us to leave the lot, Diana took time to demonstrate how the key features worked, and how to set up apple play, among a bunch if other features that would have taken us a long time to figure out by ourselves. She took the time!! Car buying can be such a coin toss and stressful. But Diana made it feel like a completely enjoyable and super smooth experience. We as customers felt seen. So incredibly grateful for her. If ever we or any of our friends need a car, we are all going to Diana Almonte at City World Hyundai in the Bronx. She is honest, responsive, professional, hardworking, detail-oriented, caring, warm, and loves helping her customers get whichever car they want. What a joy to do business with her.

Sales Manager Lamore Merchant was the best! Aside from being a lovely person, he did everything he could to meet my needs price-wise, resulting in me buying a car from this dealership. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient. Answered all my questions and explained what I needed to know. Allowed me to leave a deposit and come back the next day for another test drive. The only negative about the process was the extremely long wait time for all aspects of the transaction to happen. Perhaps this was because I was there on the last day of the month and it was very busy. Otherwise......I was very pleased.

I brought my vehicle in, explained the quirks I was aware of, and after their inspection I was offered $11,000. I couldn't sell it that day because I was waiting for my replacement vehicle, and I was told the offer would be honored if I returned a few weeks later and that it would simply be a matter of completing the paperwork. When I returned about three weeks later, expecting to complete the sale, they wanted to put the vehicle through another inspection with two different people, including rechecking the same cosmetic and mechanical items from the first visit. None of those items had changed. The offer was then reduced to $9,000 and later increased to $9,900. After about 1½ hours, I decided to leave because this wasn't the process I had expected based on what I had originally been told. Before leaving, I was told that if I came back the next day, they would honor the $9,900 offer and it would simply be a matter of completing the paperwork. I returned roughly 12 hours later expecting to sign the paperwork, but the vehicle was put through a third inspection, again rechecking many of the same areas. The sale was ultimately finalized at $9,800. Between the three visits, I spent roughly four hours at the dealership. I also didn't receive my check that day. I was told it would take no more than three days, but four days later I still hadn't received it. I called, didn't receive a callback, and ultimately had to physically return to the dealership to follow up before receiving my check. The people I dealt with were professional throughout, and I want to be fair about that. My frustration is with the process. If you're considering selling your vehicle here, be prepared for the possibility of multiple inspections, changing offers, several hours at the dealership, and potentially having to follow up yourself for payment. IF you decide to sell you car here, My recommendation would be to get very clear upfront, in writing if possible, about how long the offer is valid, whether another inspection will be required when you return, and exactly when and how you will be paid. Hopefully that saves someone else from going through the hours and the process that I went through.
