This is by far THE worst experience I've ever had with a dealership in all of my years! To start off, none of the cars they advertise are available, they were either "just sold" or "in detail". They happened to have one on the lot that fit our needs, and my husband test drove it, explaining thoroughly to the saleswoman that we were looking for one that was mechanically sound, because it would take the place of my broken down car getting to important local events. She bragged about that car having "all of the maintenance records" and that it was in excellent shape, a great buy. The only piece of paper she ever produced was a simple Carfax, which is general public knowledge NOT actual service records. She also bragged about the brand new tires they had just put on. Because of the way she talked, we were assured that this vehicle had been through service prior to being put up in the lot for sale (aka inspection), and also that it would be in great running condition with maintenance records to back that up. It was odd that the saleswoman claimed to have owned the exact same car, except she didn't know any of the features it had?! We ended up purchasing it and were very happy with the transaction... until the 4th time we went to drive it (less than 100 miles, less than 1 week post purchase). The battery was dead after 10 min of sitting being unloaded and had to be jumpstarted (battery connections were extremely dirty, actual battery condition TBD). On the way home it started rattling horribly, missing, loss of power, you name it... my husband barely made it home, where it now sits next to my other dead car! It was "fortunate" it was him driving and he was able to limp it home, because we live outside of town a ways and it was at night, with spotty cell coverage, no places to go for help. The next business day we contacted McKie, and of course they had zero concern or interest, and the saleswoman was excited about scheduling us for service! Of course! You sell a car cheap just to make up the extra amount in the service department, right? Now, I understand "as is" to the extent, BUT legally they are required to fully disclose mechanical issues, label it as a "mechanic's special", and if they don't do any prior inspection before selling it. Had we known any of this, we would have run away. Well maintained/inspected cars don't break down like this one did! Granted the car was about $5500, not $55,000, however, you can still get a really good running reliable vehicle at that price point. I have done that many times over the years at other places without any issues. One car I bought, literally as I drove it off the lot, the cv axle started grinding, and the dealer happily covered that repair for me, I didn't even have to ask! Its really disheartening that this dealer is more interested in taking advantage of honest people, more than they care about their reputation. There's no chance I will EVER recommend this dealer to anyone, and they've been reported to the appropriate agencies for their deceptive sales practices. All I ask is for the mechanically sound car we were promised, just fix the issues instead of treating us like crap.
