Brought my Optima in for repair ( needs heater core) the week before Memorial Day; it was there over a week and they never got to it since they only have 1 mechanic who can do the work. *Go to Mazda at Sports Durst in Durham instead* This review is only for the service department. I called them to set up an appointment to get an issue with my car diagnosed. The lady that answers the phone in this department needs an education on customer service. At one point during the conversation she said that I'll need to "drop the vehicle off and leave it with us". So I asked her to clarify how long it will take for them to look at it. She answered my question by repeating "you need to drop the vehicle off and leave it with us" in a slower tone. I understand the English language - that is not what I asked to be clarified. She had a very entitled tone to her voice that made it seem like she couldn't care less about whether you were a customer or not. On top of all of this she said that it would cost $150 for a diagnostic check and that cost would NOT go towards the cost to fix the problem. So I called Mazda at Sport Durst (in Durham) instead. They had FAR better customer service and said that the cost to diagnose WOULD go towards the cost of fixing the problem. So I would recommend everyone use them over the Cary location - even if it is a farther drive.

These guys were always there when I called and tried to help me regardless of who had my paperwork. This used to be one of the best places to get your Mazda serviced. However, I made an online appointment inspection on a Monday to get my Miata inspected on Saturday. When I got there, they said they don't do inspections on Saturday. Why did they accept the appointment? Why couldn't someone call or text me before Saturday to let me know? Very poor service.

If you need your Mazda serviced, take it to Independence Mazda. Bill and Bobby will take good care of you. They are an honest service department and will not take advantage of you. We have bought 3 cars from them and only service them here. We are so glad they are close by. We have been going to them for 13 years and will continue to have our Mazda's serviced by them.

Service center is either scam artists, or incompetent. Had a diagnostics done at a different car shop that said the check engine light in wife's Mazda 5 was a bad 02 sensor and that the Mazda service center HAD to do it. Called, told them the issue and made appointment to drop off car. Got a call from them that they performed another diagnostics (that we paid for again) and that they had to order the 02 sensor, which would take two days. Asked them why we dropped the car off if they didn't have the part....no answer. They also said a tie rod needed replaced, which we agreed to. We set a date to come back and thought we paid the bill in full ($518). Wife just picked it up and was charged another $411. So $929 for a diagnostics, tire patch, one tie rod end, and one 02 sensor. Hope they enjoy the money because we'll never be back!

I have a Mazda CX-5. Bought brand new from this dealership. I have always taken my vehicle to their service department for maintenance. Marshall and crew are outstanding. He always explains the work to me and gets me in and out in a timely manner. My neighbor has a Mazda that was bought in Greensboro and they hate taking their car in for service because, even with an appointment, they are sitting there for hours and the service department is always trying to get them to fix something that does not need fixing. Keep up the good work Dick Shirley Mazda Service department!!!!!
