Got there and no one offered to come help me look at the car after an appointment. We have a near perfect 820 credit score and they were asking for a whopping 18 percent apr on a 6500 dollar vehicle. At the end of the day after paying it off it would be about 15k dollars. Insane. Than the sales rep went on about how he doesn't make the apr percentage and than when I laugh at him about the Apr and say I'm leaving he immediately lowers his offer and went on to do that about three or four times. We told him exactly what we wanted and what kindof plan we were looking for but he kept giving us wise answers and being condescending. He was talking under his breath and not speaking out loud and half the time we couldn't hear what he was saying. Overall the guy was very unpleasant and was trying to take advantage. The also did a bait and switch where the model in the lot was listed lower than what the car was listed as in person on the vehicle itself. so that just goes to show they are shady right off the bat which is not a good look. Everything about the car was too good to be true and that was all represented in the ridiculous Apr offers they had when trying to make the sale. Tried to hold onto our papers with the hard credit pull we had from the past dealership asking why we want it back. Sketchy.

I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker, which has been in for a passenger seat replacement three times! It STILL does not release out for a passenger all of the time. Eric Mangetti would not deliver a loaner to me as he seems to think in 15 minutes he can fix this - which would be the 4th time back to be replaced with a new one. I do not have the time to deal with again and again. The car should be picked up, a loaner given, ... the seat belt replaced no questions asked at this point. Oriy I spent!

Stopped in initially to ask about new Durango. Was informed a model fitting my needs was a demo currently being used by the owner of the dealership. I was told I would receive a call the following day with the details. I should have known better when I didn't receive a call. I stopped by anyway. Upon inspection of the vehicle I decided I was uninterested. It had quite a few scratches and was smoked in. The salesman told me it wasn't smoked in it was just an empty cigar tube. I asked him to explain to me why there were ashes all over the dash then. I decided I would rather pay more and get a new vehicle, not a demo. When I told him I was uninterested in this particular Durango, he promptly scolded me for wasting his time. He then walked back into the showroom cursing under his breath. Very professional indeed. You would think he would have wanted to sell a $40,000 vehicle.

On July 14th. I came across an eBay ad for a 2007 Cadillac SRX a short while before the auction was to end and I had some questions. There wasn’t time to email so the ad said “My name Is Dennis Contact me at 631-731-1562. I will be happy to help.” Dennis was helpful, he told me the shipping would be $300 to $350, based on the description of the vehicle in the ad and that information, I agreed to purchase the car and gave him a $500 deposit. Dennis said that as soon as he received the wire transfer for the balance, he would send the Clear Title. The next day he requested a bank transfer of the balance plus $95 for paperwork (The ad said $85). That sent up a red flag, so I requested the exact amount of the shipping. Dennis wanted the bank transfer first, but I insisted on the shipping cost first. He told me that it was going to actually be $400. I agreed to that and sent the transfer. I contacted the transport company (Marc Richards, Managed Transport Specialist) and he said the cost was $500. I was’t happy and contacted Dennis, he said that he would kick in the extra $100. I talked to the Marc, he agreed and said that my balance would be $400 on delivery. Next I went round and round with Dennis and Marc as to when they would deliver. I was given excuses and lied to by both. On July 17th I’m still looking for the title. Dennis says “Denise does all the title work. She is still working limited hours do to the pandemic. she is in again Tuesday morning and i will make sure she sends it right out.” Finally the car showed up on July 24th at 9PM. Even in the dull light of night we could see that the front bumper was dented and cracked. We had the driver note on the bill of lading that there were dents, cracked and scratches. Dennis had advertised this car as “Overall very clean. Runs Drives Great.” Dennis said that “I cant tell if the bumper was like that or not, but i am willing to send you a Brand new Bumper cover, and you can have a body shop install it and paint it. Or if you want to take it to a body shop and see if they will just repair and paint that one i will give you $300.00” I told him “no” and that once I received the title I would take the car to an auto body shop and get an appraisal of the damage. The title finally arrived on August 5th. (After several excuses) I got the appraisal on August 7th and sent Dennis a copy. The cost of the repair is $2,218.64. Dennis said that was way too expensive and again “I will mail you a brand new bumper today if you want.” I said that I would get another appraisal. Over the next several days I got three more appraisals and sent copies to Dennis. So I sent him four appraisals from four different auto body shops from three different Zip codes. They ranged from a low of $1,982.36 to a high of $2,409.09 On August 13th. Dennis said “I will send you a Bumper cover and a fog light. The prices on the estimate are extremely high.” Dennis takes days to respond to emails and generally phone calls go to voice mail. I sent Dennis an email telling him “So since you are not responding to my various attempts to try and clear all of this up, I’m guessing that you are avoiding me. You are leaving us no other alternatives. If we do not hear from you by the end of day on Monday August 17th. (34 days after giving you a deposit on this vehicle) We will seek alternate solutions. Saddened that it has to come down to this.” He responded “Im not avoiding you. I am send ing you a new front bumper cover and a fog light. You have Not called me either. Call me at 631-741-1037 If i dont hear from you i will call you by monday, but call me” I called and got thru, He said he would contact an auto body shop in my Zip code on Monday the 17th and get a lower price. He did not call any repair shops but instead sent us a bumper cover and a fog light, which we refused and sent back. I also received a charge on MY credit card for the $100 deposit to the shipper (direct connect auto.com - Marc Richards 800-910-9944). Dennis said he paid him and I would have to clear that up with the Marc. I called Marc, who said that Dennis never paid him, but he would be talking with Dennis shortly, as he had two more cars to pick up today, and they would clear it up. On august 21st Marc said he would refund the $100. Needless to say, I have not received a credit on my statement as of today 09-15-2020. We have sent Dennis a demand letter, which he received 09-05-2020, and to date, has not responded to, nor to numerous emails.

He took the time to show me the complete car, reviewed the full cost, which was comparable to the advertised vehicle, on line. I purchased the car and received it in spotless condition. I was the one smiling when I left. I would definitely recommend Smiling Ted's to others.

After making a deal on a Jetta Lease, I was unhappy with the color choice that I had unwittingly entered into. I decided the day after to change my choice. Mark, the manager, said he could find one but would have to see if it was available. By close of business, 630pm, he told me it was not. I told him at 12pm of my concern. I contacted him in the morning to advise him that I had arranged with another Long Island dealer to get the color I wanted. He told me in the morning that I would have to wait to talk with the salesman to discuss getting my deposit back. I stopped by approximately 20 min before the salesman was supposed to come in, since I was on the road. Mark was extremely unpleasant with me. He kept on about loyalty, and started all sorts of insulting insinuations. He escalated the whole thing, and kept calling me into his office. It didn't take me too long to have enough abuse, and I started yelling back. At that point, he seemed as if he wanted to get into a physical altercation. All of his coworkers were trying to get him to stay in control. I told him to get himself under control. It seemed as if he would do anything, say anything, to keep the deal in his house. He is a complete ***hole, and everyone now knows it. Over a $100 deposit on a 36 month lease, sheesh!

Because of covid, interactions were by phone and it worked well. Car registered by them, a saving grace because our DMV requires appointments now and they are about a month behind. I was a buyer from California looking at a car that Richie, owner and sole employee, of South Shore had listed on the internet. Richie replied to my email about the car and even lists his cell phone on the website that he answers (call or text) day and night. He was very responsive in answering my questions and obtaining additional information. When I wanted a pre-purchase inspection by a local mechanic, he drove the car over and dropped it off for the mechanic to have for a day. I have been buying and selling cars for 50 years and Richie was honest and quick. I ended up buying the car and Richie worked with me on the transportation pick up and delivered the car at night to where the Carrier wanted to pick it up. I wish he was in Northern California so I could buy more cars from him in the future, I am just not sure how many cars that are 3,000 miles away that I want to buy. I would use him again in a New York minute.

Just leased a new truck through Mike Scarpa at South Shore Auto Leasing and i honestly couldn't have had a better experience. He was able to get me exactly what I wanted for a great price and unlike a regular dealerships there was no haggling or price change when it came to signing. He told me a price (a great one at that) and when i went to pick up the car and sign everything was exactly what he said it would be (not to mention he took me to the dealership and stayed while I signed to make sure it went smoothly). I would recommend them to anyone looking to get into a lease, they managed to make what is normally a stressful process into a painless/pleasurable one. In 39 months when my lease is up i will absolutely be going back to him!
