Great service where others failed! - jsragman
I love my 2006 Chevrolet HHR, but she is showing signs of maturity (130,000 miles). She still has plenty of giddyap, good performance and gas mileage, but recently her bones are beginning to ache and she complained often and loudly. The front end sounded like it was about to break loose and run down the highway on its own.
I took the car to my mechanic who said she was fine, nothing loose. Her screams, however, were tough to tolerate - something was wrong with the wheels, tires, or drivetrain. I took the car to another shop in Watertown that specialized in front ends, suspensions, and alignments. They took the old girl for a spin, noticed the noise, put her up on the lift, looked her over and told me everything was okay. I wasn't happy with the verdict, but at least I felt the car wasn't going to come apart at the seams and leave me stranded.
In a final act of frustration I called Phinney's in Clayton. They were an old, family run business that specialized in GM, particularly Chevy. I explained the problem with my old HHR and explained I loved the car and would really appreciate someone who could fix the car, eliminate the rattling and give me back the car I enjoyed so much.
Not long after I dropped the car off with the mechanics at Phinney's, I got a call from Kristin telling me they found the problem, explained what was needed for the repair and suggested some other repairs to put back on the road in tip-top shape. After I picked up the car it didn't take long to see the car was in great shape. The car ran and performed as well as when it was new - I was overjoyed!
I don't normally review products or services, but I feel I owe something to Phinneys since OTHERS couldn't find the problem and told me to live with an older car with too many miles. Phinneys were able to do what others failed to do. My only regret is that I had to pay for two other services before I got it done right at Phinneys. I won't make that mistake again.
I happily recommend having your car serviced at Phinneys. Do it to save both time and money.
