This purchase was my my first exposure to Mazda as a - Peoplecallmejer
This purchase was my my first exposure to Mazda as a manufacturer. I don't consider myself a brand enthusiast due to the ebb and flow of manufacturing and the subsequent ups and downs of quality they experience within nearly every brand. That being the case, I tend to pay attention to the season of a brands reputation and the quality of the product they are producing. I am a thorough researcher before committing to large purchases, and often times I find myself rolling my eyes when I speak to the salesmen at a dealership. Being a resident of rural southern Maine, there were limited options for Mazda dealers to frequent and Werner Mazda was definitely NOT the closest option. However, they had the configuration of the vehicle I wanted on the lot, so I reached out and began communicating with the dealership through digital means such as email and text message. This is often an easy litmus test as to whether a dealership has their act together or not, and the latter is usually exposed by an immediate phone call after the customer reaches out in a written format (personal pet peeve of mine).
I was pleased to find that my designated Salesman was happy to engage with me via text message and did not treat me like I was texter #5436 that he was juggling, he had a real "Cam-do" attitude, if you will. As my interest peaked and my communications increased in frequency, Cam's sales manager seamlessly took over communication, making sure to introduce himself since all the messages came from the same number on my end. You could imagine my excitement when I discovered that I was talking about purchasing a vehicle from THE Richard Hammond. I asked, "is this the actual Richard Hammond?!" to which I received the response; "You'll have to drop in to find out".
Well, that was all the invitation I needed to throw the Mrs in the car and drive nearly 2 hours to the dealership. When we arrived, we were met by Cameron and Richard (Spoiler Alert: It was not THE Richard Hammond...) who promptly introduced themselves and quickly got the vehicle we were interested in right in front of us while also providing us similar options. Cameron gave me a tour of the vehicle and answered nearly all of my questions even to the extent that one particular point of contention that I had read otherwise on, when I revisited Cam and challenged him, he sourced his information and I was happily humbled. At first I thought he was a bit smug but I realized it was actually confidence in his knowledge of the vehicles he is selling, which was all the more insufferable... There's nothing worse than a salesman that's RIGHT, not something I was used to.
Not long into our visit we decided to make a purchase, and in short I must say that working with both Cameron and Richard was one of the most painless car buying experiences I've ever had. Normally any negotiation is a proxy war between the customer and the sales manager, translated through the salesman. This was not the case for us, Richard quickly came over and became an active participant in the process of making the deal, an action which I cannot overstate how much I appreciate. I have never had such a seamless buying experience at a dealership in all my years buying a vehicle. The people at Werner were honest, transparent, knowledgeable, and respectful. I can't recommend them enough and we are absolutely thrilled with the vehicle.
