Purchased used Highlander July 2019, sales experience was top notch, good folks. We drove roughly 100 miles to do so, excellent vehicle and excellent sales experience. Fast forward, received recall notice on fuel pump, contacted Herrin Gear, they were aware of recall but Toyota had yet to send them any parts. They were waiting and would contact us. Saturday June 20 been with family in Madison most of day, 8:30 p. m. were on County Line Road in Jackson on our way home, car started running rough, barely going, message light came on "see dealer" . Roughly 100 miles from home, car problems, looked through owners manual and Google and tried everything we could find, no luck. I still had the cell number for the used car manager and texted him. Not optimistic I would get any answer much less receive help. Results? Someone from used car sales came to our car, allowed us to drive slowly to dealership, opened gate, showed us where to park, gave us a loaner to drive home. Herrin Gear mechanic discovered problem was fuel pump (the one Toyota recalled about but still had not sent replacement to dealership). Mechanic unsuccessfully attempted to find a more suitable rental, offered to install new pre recall fuel pump and will replace with improved fuel pump when Toyota sends them, all at no charge which includes the new but older model fuel pump and the newer post recall pump parts and installation. WOW! Who could ask for anything more? What other dealership would do this for an out of warranty vehicle purchased used almost a year prior and at approximately 8:30 on a Saturday night?
