UNSAFE CAR - jessica Hamel
On 7/12/2019 I went with my son, David Hamel to purchase a car from Old School Auto. We had looked at a 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback. The salesman who identified himself as John David assisted us in test driving the car. After test driving the car, Mr. David informed us that he would fix various things wrong with the car. This including a new battery as the one in the car was corroded, New tires as the steel belts were showing and they were dry rotted, breaks, rotors, struts, a broken hood latch and some minor body work. We placed a deposit of 200.00. On 7/13/2019 we returned with the balance of 2100 plus 65.00 to inspect the car with a RI inspection since we reside in RI.
On 8/2/2019 with no notification my son woke up and the car was in my driveway. My husband went outside to look over the car. The car had no oil, no antifreeze or water in the radiator. The battery was corroded and not changed as promised. The rotors, breaks and struts were also not done. Throughout the 3 weeks from the time of purchase to the time of delivery my son spoke with Mr. David who assured my son they were in the process of making all necessary repairs. My husband and I went to speak to Mr. David on 7/3/19. I confronted Mr. David who said he was told by my father to not do the work and deliver the car as is but to make a promise to fix the car as stated. Throughout the 3 weeks from the time of purchase to the time of delivery my son spoke with Mr. David who assured my son they were in the process of making all necessary repairs. This is an outright lie and did not occur. My father did go to the lot to check on the progress and was told by Mr. David that they were in the process of repairing the car and once completed could deliver the car to my house. Please note that my father was not the purchaser and it was up to Mr. David to communicate his intentions to both my son and I on delivery.
On 8/3/19, Mr. David told me that he was not going to do anything further to the car and that I was trying to scam him. I reiterated to him that the car was delivered with no official bill of sale, no vin check, no inspection ( which we paid for) no bodywork, rotted tires, no mechanical repairs that we previously agreed upon and a envelop that stated “will make repairs when needed” with his signature. I explained to Mr. David that we were within the 30 days and did not want this vehicle and wanted out money returned. Mr. David became extremely vulgar with me and told me the car was mine and he was not going to fix or refund my money. I asked for the owner’s information which he refused to provide to me. I have filed a complaint with BBB, AG office of consumer affairs, Business and license regulation commissioner at the MA DMV, I sent my story to channel 12 and channel 10. My next step is I am hanging flyers all over Pawtucket and Attleboro so this xxxx does not get to sell another car to another person. I want everyone to know what a horrible person John David is.something in return......
