Nightmare of a dealership - starrbrite00
I purchased a 2005 Honda Odyssey in April 2013. My dad cosigned with me. He lives in Georgia, I live in Tennessee. The salesman was very much aware that we needed the title to go to Tennessee for me to be able to register it. We were finally able to register the vehicle in October 2013 due to the title being sent to the wrong state. I was unable to drive the vehicle because I didn't have a tag after the first 30 days. We asked that Honda provide us with another temporary tag (which they would not do). So the vehicle was parked for 5 months. In November 2014 the check engine light came on stating misfires. After the first of the year We had this fixed from a personal mechanic since it wasn't something covered under the extended warranty we purchased and Honda quoted 3 times as much as my mechanic. After multiple other issues with the check engine light coming on we took the van to Honda and asked they find out what was wrong with it. They inspected it (for $95, this was the third time I had paid the $95 for them to tell me nothing was wrong with it) and said the head gasket was blown and after the head was inspected by the machine shop learned the head was warped. Honda said since it was extensive work someone from the warranty company would have to come inspect it to see if they would pay for it. After not having my van for almost 3 weeks now the warranty company decides they will cover the head gasket but not the head which will be $2000. We decided to have the head shaved down as recommended by the service tech since I didn't have money for the head that the contract said was covered under the warranty. After the work was done and we picked the van up we were informed that nothing that was done was covered under any guarantee since we did not have a new head put on it. Really? No one mentioned this to us before (which really wouldn't have changed anything because I didn't have $2,000). We dropped the van off the day before Thanksgiving due to an oil leak, that happened after they fixed the head gasket. We were told 11/28 that the oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket and serpentine belt were bad and needed to be replaced immediately. We agreed to have these things replaced as the gaskets were still covered under warranty. We received a call later that day that there were metal shavings in the oil pan and they had no clue where they were coming from. We opted to wait on replacing the oil pan as suggested and strain the oil at the next oil change. My dad went to pick the van up today Dec 2, 2014 and the serpentine belt was not replaced which they stated we didn't tell them to do that. Approx 5 miles from the dealership a large amount of smoking was coming from behind the engine. The van was taken back to them. After it having to cool down for 45 minutes it was reinspected and found that one of the gaskets rolled up when they tightened it and was leaking a lot of oil. They did fix this. We stopped to get gas and opened the hood as it was still smoking and the engine cover was missing. This required another trip to Honda to get it put back on. This has been a nightmare for over a year and a half. I would not recommend anyone do business with and Pye dealership. The customer service is horrible. This has been one headache after another.
