After over 6 months of looking for a used truck for my... - jwallc22
After over 6 months of looking for a used truck for my business I finally located one, unfortunately this dealer had it! I found the truck on a Thursday and called them to see if they could email pictures to me. The first guy I talked to said that he would take some and email them. I had intended to buy the truck on Saturday if it was the one I wanted but after not receiving anything by Sunday I decided to drive the 2 hours on Sunday to take a look. I liked it and decided to buy the truck on Tuesday. I called on Tuesday afternoon to let them know that I was interested in the truck and I would be down as soon as possible to drive and buy. I wasn't sure if I should go down there so close to closing because I didn't want to hold anybody up. The guy said "sure come on down it's a very nice day".
After my 2 hour plus drive to the dealership, I was greeted at the door as they were starting to wrap up for the day. I test drove the truck and found it to be acceptable (although they didn't even change the oil or change the air filter and it was plugged up). I told the guy I wanted it and would like to proceed with the buying process. They did an appraisal of my truck and came back $3000 under "poor condition" book for my trade. I countered with the actual book value for my truck and actual book value on the truck they were selling. The salesman took the counter offer to the manager or whomever. In passing on his way out the door to go home the salesman said "can't do it" and "he won't do it" and walked off to go home. That was it. They blatantly tried to rip me off and got upset and closed shop when I countered with a fair offer! (no, I wasn't trying to get retail value for a vehicle in poor condition, the truck is in near perfect shape and I was expecting to get offered "good condition" value). If that's how you want to be treated then by all means shop here but I never will and neither will my business, friends or family.
