Clutch Replacement - MULK
While stationed in Okinawa for three years, I stored my 2009 Tacoma which only had about 25k miles. When I returned, I put two thousand more miles on it and started to notice a chirping noise coming from under the truck. I took it to I-10 Toyota and they said it was a defective throw-out bearing. Out of warranty by less than a year (and less than 30k miles), I contacted Toyota HQ and asked them if they'd help out with the cost (seeing as how it was clearly a defect that would've surfaced during the warranty period, had it not been put in storage for three years). Toyota needed more information to determine if the clutch was defective, so I-10 Toyota agreed to tear into the clutch to provide Toyota with the details they needed (over a thousand dollars worth of labor). Once they had the clutch disassembled, they identified a number of defects, then contacted Toyota HQ and advocated on my behalf to cover the cost of replacement. Toyota agreed to cover the costs, and I-10 replaced all defective parts.
This kind of customer advocacy is remarkable and I just wanted to take the time to write something to thank I-10 Toyota, especially Art Ramirez, for their outstanding service.
