Car dealers are car dealers. People are gonna have bad... - JoelLambert
Car dealers are car dealers. People are gonna have bad experiences, that's just the way of the world.
However, the service department is another matter. This is the opportunity for a dealership to provide top-notch repair and more importantly, customer service outside of the naturally antagonistic car buying experience.
Sadly, Buerge Ford is sorely lacking in this department. It's close to my house, so I decided to give it a try instead of Airport Marina Ford, where I've gone in the past and always had professional service.
I made an appointment for my 2013 Ford Raptor to address four warranty issues, 1) the rear defroster not working, 2) the SYNC system locking up occasionally, 3) the start-up screen not showing the right logo for this model, and 4) some broken hardware on the tailgate.
I showed up promptly at 9am for my appointment, and after talking to Mario, with whom I had made the appointment with, I left my truck and walked home. They offer a ride service, but the driver was 20 minutes out and I didn't want to wait. I had made it clear to Mario that I needed my truck back by 3pm. Throughout my interaction with him, he didn't seem to remember our phone conversation from the previous day or be paying very close attention to what I was asking.
At 2:30pm, after hearing nothing from the dealership for the last 5 1/2 hours, I called to check on the progress. Nothing had been done. Mario said he needed another hour to work on the SYNC issue. I could tell that he just remembered that he had my truck and had just gotten it in to a service bay.
I showed up at 3:30, Mario told me to wait, and rushed off someplace, so after being left alone for 10 minutes standing outside, I went over to where the tech was working on my truck.
The tech was good. Seemed to know his business. However, all he had done was do a master reset of the system and make sure it worked. Having done this myself in the past, I know that it's about a 30 minute operation, tops.
At this point Mario comes wandering over and says to the tech, I kid you not, "OH! Can you see if the start-up screen can be changed?".
W. T. F?!
You've had my truck SIX HOURS and you haven't even communicated what needs to be done? What a clown show. This Mario dude needs to not only be fired, but taken out back and slapped around a bit. I volunteer for the job.
I guess I should also say that he did absolutely zero with my rear-window defroster and the tailgate. At this point I was late for my next meeting and I just wanted to get away from this idiot, so I bailed. I called the General Manager on my way out to voice my disappointment and his secretary took a message. This was yesterday. I don't expect to hear back from him.
Buerge Ford. Stay away on all fronts.
