Bait & switch or just inept? We found a car on the Racine Toyota & Scion (formerly, Gentile Toyota) website and printed out the page with the published price (documentation availa We found a car on the Racine Toyota & Scion (formerly, Gentile Toyota) website and printed out the page with the published price (documentation available). After the sales pitch, test drive, etc. the salesman began price negotiations with a price about $7000.00 higher than the published price. When confronted, he left, and returned with another salesman who told us the published price was a "mistake" and that there was "no way" they'd sell the car to us for the published price. Their manager later told us that as a newer business, they were prone to making mistakes and that this kind of thing never happened before and implied that we were just out of luck. Thus, we were left wondering if they are either too dishonest or simply too stupid to sell cars, as they are surely one or the other. Possible answer: while we thought at the time that we were unique in our being victimized by Racine Toyota, we found that Edmunds.com has a review dated 01/22/14 which reflects a very similar incident suffered by yet another victim of the dealership and The Better Business Bureau (of which this dealership is apparently not a member) has three similar reviews. I was treated fairly and courteously by all of the staff at Gentile. I was also very pleased with my experience with both Mr. Mink & Theresa in the finance department. Both were professional, knowledgeable, informative and very helpful. I liked that Mr. Mink did not apply a lot of pressure to "buy today." It was nice that my new car came with a full tank of gas. It was also nice that Mr. Mink-- introduced me to the service personnel, set up a reminder regarding my first oil change and also made a follow-up call to be sure that I was happy and not having any problems with my new vehicle. Mike was patient with our questions, and gave us hands on experience with all the apps and cellphone connections without making us feel stupid - I have really impressed my kids with my knowledge of all this technology! Every person we dealt with at the dealership (Mike, Kevin, Theresa, Scott and the guy who held the door :) treated us with respect and offered help, it was refreshing to see such great customer service. I to had a bad experience with the finance person Theresa Clemens. She was extremely aggressive about trying to sell the extended warranty. She was very hard sell. Well, it has still been added to my balance at the bank. We spoke with Kevin and he also assured us it would be removed. This experience has not been good. I feel I was deceived and am extremely unhappy. More
This was my fourth lease with Gentile. Dave Paulson handled all the paperwork efficiently and I was pleased with both the car and the price. First off Steve and Kevin where great to deal with. Took time to find vehicle my fiancé liked. But ten days after buying a car it would not start. Yes, I know used car,things happen. Receptionist took my n time to find vehicle my fiancé liked. But ten days after buying a car it would not start. Yes, I know used car,things happen. Receptionist took my name and number and assured us the used car manager would be calling us right back. Two hours later still no phone call. After having to leave my daughter at the hospital alone to go get another car from home,drove keys to dealership and asked Clay (used car manager) to tow it in and look at it for me. He was unwilling to do anything. Just looked at me and said used car as is. What do you want me to do about it! I even told them I knew we would have to pay to get it fixed. So took to a shop I use all the time. Starter was bad (can't blame gentile). But my mechanic told me car was unsafe to drive because the rear differential seals had been leaking all over the rear brakes and saturated them. These had been leaking for quit some time my mechanic told me. Needed to fix these in order to be safe driving this vehicle. So another 400 dollars more beyond the starter price. Don't they really inspect these cars before they sell them? Can't get any replies from the used car managers. Can't really say I'd go back. To bad I love toyota and wanted to buy a new tundra from them. Think I'll take my business somewhere else. Somewhere where service is important. And where they inspect their used cars like they should before selling them. Thinking of contacting fox 6 news. Maybe they can get some answers. Have heard many complaints about the poor service from them now from many people. Too bad. Wish I was writing a good review. More

I do realize that most people only write reviews when they have had a bad experience, so I would like to start my review with the positive. Dave was an awesome salesman. He answered all of my question and was very knowledgeable about the new Scion tC I was buying. He took into consideration all of my needs and treated me far. He also explained in detail all the pricing and financing aspects. Now, I began having trouble when I was told I could refinance the car after I went through the dealerships banks. I was preapproved though another bank with a different and much lower interest rate. I was told by Theresa that many people refinance after going through the dealership. Being a younger person this was the first time I had ever bought a car on my own. I know dealerships are known for misleading the buyer, but I wish that on the financing end they would have better explained all of the fine print. Long story short when you finance tax, title, gap insurance and all the add-ons, banks will not cover that after the car is purchased. So now I have to wait until I have paid down my car to what it is worth before I can refinance at a rate I can actually afford. When I called the dealership and left Theresa a message, she never called me back. I explained in the message that I had some questions and was a little confused. When I later drove to the dealership to discuss my concerns she looked at me as if I was crazy. She was very rude and became defensive when I began asking her questions on the sales floor, and instead of taking me into any office she verbally insulted me as if I was a idiot. I believe I was taken advantage of by the finacial end of the business. Sales wise I have no complaints. I do not appreciate the way I was treated after I had already purchased the car. More
