I got my car worked on yesterday and now today my alternator/starter is bad. The battery will not hold a charge. I'm not guarenteering it's a coincidence but I'm also not fully blaming anyone. alternator/starter is bad. The battery will not hold a charge. I went to an auto parts store to buy a replacement (thinking the $5 bulb was more economical for me than a trip to the dealership for the covered repair). The salesman at the auto parts store encouraged me to take it to the dealer in case it's a more significant electrical problem. I made an appointment, confirmed where to go, drove to the service garage, spoke with an attendant, and was told by another attendant that burned-out bulbs are common and can be done in the express garage next door. I drove my vehicle to the express garage, waited in the lounge, and was then told replacing the light bulb required extensive work and was, therefore, being sent back to the main service garage (where I began). Side note: replacing a light bulb should not be an extensive operation, but that's probably an engineering issue. Eventually I saw my vehicle pulled in front of the lounge. Ten minutes later, I was told it was ready for pickup. The good news: my $5 turn signal light bulb was replaced at no charge (under warranty) The bad news: it took 75 minutes (with an appointment) The better news: the attendant apologized for the experience I hope my vehicle will not need additional service—beyond oil changes—during my lease. If it does, I hope the experience will be better. I'm not angry at all, but it was not a positive experience. Thanks for seeking my input. More
