Great service before and after purchase I've seen so many bad reviews for this place and I have to say I don't get it. For many years my family has purchased vehicles from Winthrop st motors I've seen so many bad reviews for this place and I have to say I don't get it. For many years my family has purchased vehicles from Winthrop st motors and I've had great experiences all the way around. I've had minor issues with the truck but, let's get real I bought a used vehicle but the follow up service is on time and I mean in time no questions asked I called and told Vinny my issue I scheduled and appointment dropped off the truck and not only is it being handled he went the extra mile and gave me a car on his own I don't have rental insurance but he went out of his way to be sure I had a vehicle. 5 starts and 2 thumbs up for personality, customer service and the said purchased truck!!!! I would highly recommend this dealership. They sell quality vehicles at great prices. I learned this when shopping around for a good used car. We bought a used Nissan Xterra for $9000 on 12/28/11. A few days after we bought it it started falling out of gear. We live in a different state so it didn't make sense for us to take it back to them to g few days after we bought it it started falling out of gear. We live in a different state so it didn't make sense for us to take it back to them to get it fixed since they charge $100 for a deductible and gas costs a lot. It cost us $400 and they had agreed they would pay what their mechanic would have charged, which was $200. 3 days later the car broke down because the fuel pump was bad. They offered to tow it if we got it within 15 miles of their business, which is over 250 miles from our house. So we took it to our mechanic to save money. They paid for the new fuel pump but none of the labor. The car also had a blown light and wouldn't pass inspection until it was replaced. After numerous complaints about their lack of customer service they agreed to pay us half of the labor costs from the fuel pump needing replaced. This was all we originally wanted, it just took about 2 months to get. In the end they paid even though they were not required to, just to make us happy. If we had lived near them none of this would have been an issue. More
I bought a used car from this dealer and when I picked it up the gas light was on indicating empty and the inside was all dog hair. They could have at least vacuumed the car and put some gas in so I didnt ha up the gas light was on indicating empty and the inside was all dog hair. They could have at least vacuumed the car and put some gas in so I didnt have to worry trying to find a gas station in the area. That was the least of my problems. Right away the windows didnt roll down. The back doors did not open from the inside, sun roof was leaking, interior lights on dashboard were out...to name a few. I was assured the problems would be fixed but had to come back when there was a mechanic on duty. Brought it back 3 times and nothing was ever done. Was told parts were being ordered then of course the mechanic was "fired" according to them so I had to wait until they hired someone. After approximatley 35 days the engine seized on me. Conveniently for them it was RIGHT after the warranty ended. Called and they said "sorry its not under warranty anymore." The intitial problems were never fixed and now the car is inoperatable...cost more for me to replace the engine than its worth. I am out of a car and still paying the loan I took to purchase it. I would never recommend this business to anyone!! More
I was looking for a week end truck to use, eveyone needs a truck. I saw a '97 Chevrolet S10 for sale on Auto Trader at Winthrop Street Motors. I went there, very nice folks, they even let me pet their dog a a truck. I saw a '97 Chevrolet S10 for sale on Auto Trader at Winthrop Street Motors. I went there, very nice folks, they even let me pet their dog and look at the pictures of their expensive yacht. I purchased the truck. It looked ok, drove fine and they said it just had a complete tune-up and a set of new injectors installed. I live 40 miles from the dealer so, I made an appointment to pick it up. When I arrived at the designated time, the truck was not there, nor the salesman. No one knew where the truck was so, a worker there stopped and said that he heard it might be at a muffler shop, 5 miles down the road, being fixed. We called the muffler shop and yes, it was there. I had to inconvenience the person who drove me 40 miles from my house a little more, so I could get it. Now, the real issue: On the 91st day of ownership (I kid you not) the clutch and slave valve failed. I called them, their answer was, well, it's not under warranty no more and there was absolutely nothing they could do. You know...? they did not even recommend a good mechanic. They got their money and I got to spend an additional $1,500 for towing and repair. Two months after the clutch replacement a spark plug literally "blew" out of the head, leaving my wife and I stranded. After yet another tow job, I came to find that the "new tune up" was done, but the mechanic who did it, stripped the head with the plug, leaving it hanging by a thread-literally. Another cost for towing and $150 for the engine head to be correct so the plug could be installed. I have never, ever had an experience like this and I must have purchased at least 36 cars in my lifetime. Don't go there. More
These guys give "used car salesman" a GOOD name. there was NO b.s. involved in my purchase and when I had some trouble with the car I purchased (which was my own fault), they had me bring the name. there was NO b.s. involved in my purchase and when I had some trouble with the car I purchased (which was my own fault), they had me bring the car right in and they fixed it immediately. I am currently living in NY (moved here recently) but would drive all the way back to buy another car from them. I'm 44 yo and have purchased MANY cars in my lifetime and have never had such a great experience as I did at Winthrop Street Motors. Alex Ashline More
