Also the sales manager Ken Wagner was very instrumental in finalizing my deal. I walked in with low expectations on purchasing a car and was amazed at the time and attention Ken put into getting this deal done . TPMS (Tire Pressure Moniter System) light came on twice in last three days. Made an internet appointment at Wilkins dealership checkup. Show up on time, greet and meet by John. My husband Steve and I came in the other night with our daughter Dianna to purchase a car..Vito was the salesman helping us..I have never felt more comfortable at a dealership than I have with this one. Vito was so helpful,listened to what Dianna wanted and made the numbers work for a young 21 year old..Vito also explained how things worked in the car,set up her bluetooth with her,and answered any questions she had with complete patience ...She drove away in a beautiful Elantra...We were so impressed, we are now in the works with Vito on the purchase of a Sonata...each salesperson we dealt with at this dealership,down to the finance man,made us feel so comfortable...like family :) It was a wonderful experience !!!.. I bought a car from Wilkins about 7 months ago and was pleased with the process at the time, but assumed it was similar to experiences I would have somewhere else. When my fiancee's car stopped running this last week, we were trying to spend less money for a car that ran. We visited a couple of different dealerships, hoping to find something to meet our needs, but we couldn't find cars we felt like we could trust or people we wanted to work with. It was at that point that we decided - despite not finding anything in our ideal price range - to go back to Wilkins. We worked with Sarge Sakinovic last time and requested him again...only this time did we realize how lucky Wilkins is to have an employee like Sarge. He's a no-nonsense, no-pressure salesman whose care for his customers is admirable. He remembered each of us from 7 months ago and listened to what we wanted. Rather than trying to upsell us from the price range we gave, Sarge worked with us to make sure we understood our options and let us spend as much time as possible testing (and re-testing) cars. The way he treated us made us feel like members of the big Wilkins family; he made the car buying process fun. We also spent time talking about our financial options with Rich Sughero, the sales manager. Both Rich and Sarge appeared to do their jobs well; they didn't try to butter us up or play hardball with the prices. They listened to what we had to say, explained the dealership's position on the car, and worked with us to come up with a fair price. Just like when I bought my Altima last October, we left feeling like we got a great value on a 2011 Nissan Sentra. Hopefully we left a little profit in it for them as well. Both times I've worked with him, Tom Ballun turned the financial piece into a fast and stress-free process. He explained our options, provided several additional coverage plans (which he was fine with when we decided not to go with them), and put us at ease. We certainly haven't tried all the dealers out there, but both of our experiences with Wilkins will make sure we talk to them first the next time we (or anyone we know) are looking for a car. More
Jim was very easy to work with and made the "dreaded car buy" experience quite easy. Tom took over from there, and made the financing easy too. I purchased a used Scion 2009 in October 2012. Jim Minogue responded to my e-mail inquiry. He was patient, kind and persistent. My work schedule is crazy and he worked around it. After my purchase when I was at work I attempted to use my second key. It would not open my door. I called the next day, expecting the brush off the opposite occured. I was invited to stop by and the folks in service were going to take a look. Well, to my delight there was not one person but several to greet me. Warm and welcoming. Doors were looked at and fixed. The manual lock just needed 10w40. Then I went on my merry way. Just called on 1-2-13 to make an appt. with service for my oil change and check up. I am actually looking forward to it. The folks at Wilkins make it a pleasure to do busines. I searched for 2 months before I committed to this purchase. More
So this review has a few pieces to it. First of all, we purchased our Santa Fe in February 2009. Jim Minogue was one of the best people to deal with. The whole experience was a good one. I did not buy the vehicle that night due to a snow storm and it being my wife's birthday, but we negotiated everything and came back on Saturday. The entire experience from top to bottom has been GREAT. Jim is older than me and kept calling me Sir. I thought is was funny. As the year have gone by, we still love our Santa Fe. I've had basic Maintenance done tot he car and both Ray and Matt in the Service Dept are kind and courteous and always anxious to help and resolve your questions/concerns. Service is quick and fast. As time has gone on, I have also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Tom Wilkins. A very nice guy. Down to Earth and family oriented. He took the time one day to talk to me and asked how old my kids are. I've been in other dealerships where I have seen some real abrasive owners. Tom, I believe anyway, has created a good atmosphere at his dealership from top to bottom. I've enjoyed the Wilkins experience so much that my next car WILL be from them. I have also recommended by brother to them and he also bought a car from Jim. THey live on the northside of Arlington Hts and also enjoyed the experience. More
