I initially brought my 2011 Versa to get it diagnosed. I was informed that because of the age of the vehicle, there was a $500.00 deposit required. I was very surprised and shocked at this policy. It was I was informed that because of the age of the vehicle, there was a $500.00 deposit required. I was very surprised and shocked at this policy. It was explained to me that that for vehicles 10 years and older some customers refused to pay the cost of repair and would thus walk away leaving Nissan to get rid of the left vehicle and lawyers would then be involved and other costs due to customer non compliance. I was told the cost of the diagnosis $150 plus tax costing around $180 plus. So, I had no other choice if I wanted the vehicle serviced. I was told once the correct diagnosis was accomplished, the remainder of the deposit would be returned. After several days passed, a weekend and upcoming holiday this meant the car would not be diagnosed until early September. I even made a joke of the same that the earliest they could get to the vehicle would be next month being it was at the end of August. I called every 2 or 3 days after checking on the process. I was told as soon as something was determined I would get a call. Eventually the call came and the cost of repair would be around $7000.00 just to fix what electrical issues were found. It was going to need a new computer, fuse box and wire harness just to get started. Well I said the car was certainly not valued at that amount. The staff agreed and one of the managers standing there gave me a more detailed view of the vehicle condition and suggested he would not put anymore money into the vehicle but suggested that amount if it were going to be spent would be better served on the purchase of another vehicle. I was further informed that the harness was such an old item, it was on back order and would take some time to order if it could be located. I then asked if there was any of my $500.00 deposit left and the answer was it had all been exhausted during the diagnosing process and there some 4 hours were used to determine what issues were found. I truly felt disheartened and deceived. I was then told they would get rid of the vehicle but I replied I would have it towed. I went back by the department today driving the Versa I had gotten repaired for far less than told. I walked in and was greeted with can I help you sir? I replied I had brought my white Versa there for repairs and it was going to cost $7000.00 but I had it back on the road and wanted them to know. One last thing. When I got my receipt and the estimate papers, I noticed that my $500.00 was not labeled deposit but deductible. That certainly was not the way it was explained to me at the start. Why was it called that now? Arthur ajay557@aol.com More
