Total pressure and frustration with the dealer Very worst and frustrating experience by far on cary buying. Went on purchase for a used car which is priced way high without any clear price online. Very worst and frustrating experience by far on cary buying. Went on purchase for a used car which is priced way high without any clear price online. The sales man wanted to have a 2000 or 1000 non refundable deposit for a 12000 car which is totally bad. While I made arrangements with credit union to bring the check next day and asked for purchase agreement sign up was answered that the car is bought and hung up on phone while my banker tried to get a reason not for selling to me . Total frustration and pressure with sales. Totally dishonest. More
OMG!!! AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP, ESP IF YOU ARE OUT OF STATE!!! We are from IL and bought a vehicle from WBLS ON 8/5/16. IT IS 9/25/16. Our TEMPORARY REGISTRATION EXPIRED 9/5/16, FIFTY+ DAYS AGO. FOR THE LAS We are from IL and bought a vehicle from WBLS ON 8/5/16. IT IS 9/25/16. Our TEMPORARY REGISTRATION EXPIRED 9/5/16, FIFTY+ DAYS AGO. FOR THE LAST 20 DAYS (AND still COUNTING) WE HAVE HAD AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO LEGALLY DRIVE BECAUSE FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON WBLS HAS SOME UNKNOWN VENDETTA AGAINST US - THE DEALERSHIP LOCATED AT 3880 HWY 61 HAS REFUSED TO RELEASE THE MONEY THEY TOOK FROM US DURING FINANCING, THAT THEY CLAIMED WAS REQUIRED FOR THEM TO PAY THE NECESSARY TAXES, TITLING, AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED THE USED VEHICLE THAT WE PURCHASED THIS DAY. IT IS 50 DAYS LATER AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN PAID. Initially, everything was great, we dealt with Bob Lund, then Bob Stansky. The experience appeared typical until we got down to the numbers and entered the financing office with Molly. This is when we were told that the only financing that we could get for this used vehicle, going for about $16K that we would be placing $4K down on, was a rate of 8.29% for 5 yrs.. Our credit scores have always been exceptional, so this was a shock to us. We were also informed that all of the fees for sales tax, title and reg would need to be rolled into this high-rate loan. We have bought out of state before and NEVER were we told we couldn't pay these fees ourselves when we got back home, but according to Molly, this is the way they HAVE to do it. She assured us that the dealership needed to take care of getting those payments recorded and completed, and so NO, we could not take care of those payments ourselves.. This, unfortunately, threw us off so much that we failed to look at the numbers close enough to realize that the amount charges for sales tax did not add up to anything that made sense and the charges for the Title and Reg in Il were completely inaccurate - our mistake for not focusing on the #'s thoroughly enough... Then, we get to the offering of the "Extended Warranty". This is when Molly seemed the most irritated with us. The amount was ridiculous and having bought used vehicles in the past, we knew that you could get better offers outside the dealership. Apparently, Molly disapproved with this mindset, as she advised us NOT to consider outside coverage and when we failed to reconsider, her attitude had noticeably changed in a seriously negative manner. We were so mentally exhausted, having to deal with all of the financial ridiculousness, and having subjected to our poor kids to the waiting area for about 5 hrs, we just wanted to leave. We get back to IL and a few days later, we visit our credit association and refinance that horrible Huntington loan at 8.29%, which was secured at WBLS, with a 4 year loan at 2.24% - HUGE DIFFERENCE, and yes we can get an extended warranty through them :). Great, so now we just need to receive confirmation of the payment for the Sales tax, title transfer and vehicle registration fees, plus our payoff notice on the original loan. So, on or about the 23rd of August, at least 21 days after we made the deal, we get mail delivered to our home from WBLS, that contains a check, simply addressed to "SECRETARY OF STATE". This check contained the FULL, combined amount due for the money due to IL-Dept of Revenue (sales tax), AND the money owed to IL-Sec. of State (for title and reg). In other words, the WHOLE amount, that they insisted they needed to put on our loan (at 8.29% interest) because it HAD to be paid by them, is now sitting in our hands 23 days into our temporary registration allowances and IT IS IMPROPERLY ASSIGNED with the FULL amount made payable to SOS. These folk claim to be reputable and don't understand how the fees are collected for used vehicles??? SO NOW WE SIT, in less than (1) week, we would have no registration available on the vehicle and would be unable to drive it. We immediately called WBLS to report the error was told Molly was out - straight to Voicemail. No return call, try again, and again and again Unfortunately EVERY time, we were continually sent to Molly's VM. We tried over and over, different days, different times, with the same results- no return response. WHAT DO YOU DO AT THIS POINT? WE ARE 6.5 HRS AWAY!!! For over, (2) weeks we waited for someone to return our call. Our temporary registration ended on 9/5/16. Finally, on 9/16, We attempted to seek assistance at the IL- sec of State, who told us that there were a whole mess of errors to deal with on this vehicle sale. #1/ The check, made out to SOS was completely unacceptable, not only is the amount wrong but so is the way it was assigned. We would need to contact the dealership and tell them to issue a new check, optimally payable to US (afterall, it is our money that we are paying interest on), then we need to deposit the amount into our account, then return with our checkbook prepared to issue proper payments, for the CORRECT amounts , of which we would owe more, separately to both IL-Sec. of State and Il- Dept of Rev. because their recorded payment calculations were so wrong and #2/ The title still reflected Huntington Bank as title holder because the amended title, Huntington reported, was issued back to the dealership. So, we tried another route, this time, we opted to contact Bob Lund, the salesman. We explain how we are sitting outside the SOS, and that we can not register this vehicle, and how we have tried to call multiple times and no one will return our call. He places us on hold, then returns, telling us that they require the check returned before they will remit anything. We tell Bob that the vehicle can not be driven because the temporary has expired and we offer to void the check and send a photograph over email. He says he's willing to give that a try. However, after receiving it, he calls back and says WBLS will NOT accept this. They want US to Overnight FEDEX (at OUR expense) back their check, then WE NEED TO research and report the correct amounts that are required so they can re-assign appropriate checks. THEY REFUSE TO RELEASE THIS MONEY, OUR MONEY, PAYABLE DIRECTLY TO US from some unknown reason. I couldn't believe this- We thought maybe there was some mistake and requested that he connect us with whoever was issuing this instruction, of course that person wasn't available but Bob said they'd call us back... of course this never happened. So a few hours later, we called back again. This time, when reception answered, I insisted that we be connected to a live person in finance - NO VOICEMAIL. She puts me thru to Nikki. I explain to Nikki what's going on and tell her we want our money released immediately. She *coldly* replies that this is just not going to happen. She says that their policy is that monies get paid directly to gov't offices (DOR & SOS) and she already has the corrected monetary numbers to amend the payments accordingly, however, WBLS MUST have the actual check, although voided, in their hands or nothing will be done to rectify the problem. She tells us, once they get it, she'll immediately send the payments we need. WE WERE SPEECHLESS. . It was like being held hostage. What choice did we have? So, reluctantly, we comply. I decide to leave an update on GOOGLE review. We then make arrangements to overnight FedEx the check and they get it Monday 9/19. Around 1PM, Kevin Shafer, the Finance Director leaves a message on my phone stating that he would like a call back, hopefully by 4PM because after that he'd be out til Thurs. 9/22. My husband IMMEDIATELY returns the call and of course, it goes right to Kevin's VM, and no, he never calls back. We hear NOTHING on 9/22, so on 9/23, my husband tries again. Kevin accepts the call and immediately acknowledges the Google review that we created on 9/19. In fact, he is making NO effort to hide his displeasure. He snips that the fact that they offered us 8.29% on a 10yr vehicle was COURTEOUS of them! My husband doesn't want to argue and just reminds him that this IS OUR MONEY and it need to be released to us IMMEDIATELY!!! And if they can not cut a check out for the money due in our name then they need to release the payable to the appropriate gov't offices immediately because, with the expired temp registration, We could NOT LEGALLY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 18 DAYS. KEEP IN MIND, We had given them EVERYTHING they required of us, yet still, they refuse to comply! The 1st installment for the loan on this vehicle was due 10/1. I must legally pay this amount even though the van sits in our driveway UNDRIVEABLE until we have the money that WBLS is holding of ours that was supposed to be released for sales tax, title and registration by 9/5/16. THIS DEALERSHIP DOES NOT CARE. Therefore, I have contacted the IL - Dept of Rev, the MN Dept of Rev, the MN and IL ATTY Gen , The MN Driver and Vehicle Svcs "Dealer Unit", the BBB and Auto Owners, the Surety bond co for Superstore Automotive Inc. the legal name that WBLS is under, trying to get consumer assistance. With each, case files will be recorded for the investigation of their fraudulent practices and for the protection of future consumers. I am told that there will likely be a 6-8 week wait for these reviews. I cannot be without a vehicle for another 2 months, and therefore made the ultimate decision to dispute the downpayment amount placed on our Visa. Hopefully, we'll have our money returned in 2 days and can get the vehicle registered for IL roads next week, or once we have our money credited back to our VISA. Kevin, you told my husband that you'd speak with Nikki and call back today (9/23). Nikki told us last Fri (9/16) she'd cut the new checks, just as soon as she got the original check returned. FEDEX DELIVERY CONFIRMED 9/19. It's 9/25 and we still haven't heard from anyone. Apparently, now the only reason that they attempt a call is not to resolve this problem, it is merely to harass us. They apparently have all the time for this but not to rectify their errors or offer even one apology for this inconvenience. THIS Is THE WAY THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS??? At this point , we are seeking legal advice and have been instructed to save EVERY piece of evidence, photographs, phone calls and documents that we have on record, which we will. And any future correspondence should only be accepted in writing. I think they have our address. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIENCED SOMETHING SIMILIAR AND KNOWS ANY OTHER MEANS TO ADDRESS OR AMEND A SITUATION LIKE THIS - PLEASE LET US KNOW. They have (had) us over a barrel and I would like to see them held accountable for these illegal practices. Our fight is definitely not over. More
