I went to Westbury Friday after having heavily researched their pre-owned inventory, their ratings on this website, and communicating with Debbie from the Internet sales department. I am in the process of their pre-owned inventory, their ratings on this website, and communicating with Debbie from the Internet sales department. I am in the process of purchasing a mountain home, and intended to get rid of my mint condition 1 year old BMW to get a used Grand Cherokee. The GC was more practical, and would free up some $ to throw toward the extra expenses of maintaining/furnishing a mountain house. As with most car buyers, my particular situation came down to numbers and making them work. Given their large selection of vehicles, I knew Westbury had a vehicle for me, but needed to know if they'd give me a fair price on my trade-in. Accordingly, I began emailing with a woman named Debbie on the Internet sales team. I provided her with the details about my vehicle, and she quoted me a trade in appraisal of "$30-33k". Obviously the dealership would need to see the car in person, and I arrived with the expectation that when it came to talking numbers, they'd probably come in on the low-side. I made it very clear with Debbie that I was only coming in because the numbers would work for me, and that I was a serious buyer not looking for any games. Debbie acknowledged and we set up time for me to come in Friday at 1:30. I took off of work and arrived at noon, expecting tons of traffic from Brooklyn to Long Island (apparently no NYers were trying to go to Long Island with the impending Hurricane Irene!) but pleased that the trip of 26 miles only took an hour. Upon arrival, I was introduced to a brand new salesman, I believe his name was Gerald, Jamal, but the name is escaping me and he did not have a business card. He was a nice guy overall, though speed was not his forte. He immediately wanted to start by looking at my trade in, took the key, and the process of waiting began. I mentioned the stock numbers of the vehicle I was interested in, and the salesman enlisted the help of a fellow salesman to locate the lot it was on. We hopped in a car, drove to the lot, and the vehicle wasn't there. We went to a different lot, I combed through and found the vehicle. The salesmen left me there, in the middle of nowhere, trying to get keys for the car I wanted to look at - no phone number to call him at, just drove off. After almost 20 minutes, he came back. On the plus-side, I was able to thoroughly look over the vehicle and discovered it had a flat tire. I at least figured I should sit in it after all of the time spent waiting, and discovered the interior roof was filthy, there were stains on the center console and doors... it's a risk when looking at used vehicles, I understand, so I decided not to do anything further with this vehicle and go back to the dealership. There was another vehicle I remembered liking, one sitting right on their lot. It had one car parked in front of it, and once again the salesman left me outside, standing there, for almost 30 minutes while they tried to "figure out" the stock number of the vehicle blocking it in. He would disappear, come back to the car, and disappear again without saying much or explaining what was happening. I actually had to go back inside and asked the receptionist to page him... needless to say I had been with him for over 2 hours and 15 minutes before I was finally able to drive a car. Overall I was pleased with the vehicle, the test drive went well and I was ready to discuss numbers. I had a Capital One auto loan check set up, a checkbook to throw additional money down, and title etc on my old vehicle - ready to go. Then things started going downhill. The salesmen informed me that my trade in was actually being valued at $26,800, despite the fact that he had sat in it earlier, admitting "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but this car is MINT." I had recently had it serviced and BMW was listing my exact car, preowned on their lot, for $37,800. I would expect a consumer to be able to purchase it for around $35-35.5, so I figured this dealership would still be able to purchase it for around $32k and still make a nice profit. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I became frustrated by this bait-and-switch technique and wanted to speak directly with the sales manager. Steve reluctantly came over and basically explained that his price was factoring in taxes, so using Brooklyn taxes, he was actually giving me a price of $29,178. That logic obviously has its flaws, but even when when I pointed out that this was STILL $800 less than the lowest end of the quote I received, he offered another $800 to get us there "after taxes". This still meant he was offering me $27,600 after an appraisal of $30-33k. I realize everyone will have a different experience, but I was extremely disappointed to see such a highly-rated dealership resort to bait-and-switch tactics. I took a half-day at work, patiently worked with a brand new salesman (3 hours of my life I'll never get back), and sat face to face with Steve, who was unethical enough to review my email correspondence with Debbie that showed her quote of $30-33k and look me in the face and tell me he can only do $27,600 at best. When I stood up, mentioned I was frustrated by this waste of time, Steve took the papers with my information and tossed them across the desk in a disrespectful manner. If he were to respond, I'm sure the owner's response would be "well we never like to give appraisals over the internet" but they have a trade-in form built right into the Westbury Jeep website, so it would seem they acknowledge its necessity in the business of selling cars. And coincidentally, when I purchased my BMW last year, the dealer provided me an appraisal quote and honored it, so I know it can be done. You could absolutely have a different experience at this dealership, but I would caution anyone from taking an internet trade-in appraisal at face value. I will be submitting all of this information to the Better Business Bureau, as well as a letter to Chrysler Corp. More

I dealt with a great salesman named Chris Cox. If you are in the market for a new car or truck, (I was there for a Ram 1500) THIS is who you want for your salesman. Chris helped me figure out what I was looking for as there were several options. He was patient, friendly, knowledgable and did I say patient? Everything about the showroom was pristene. Everything was clean and shiny and they even had coffee and stuff if you wanted. The showroom vehicles were also clean as a whistle. It was a very good experience and I have bought my last few vehicles through them and I use them for service. I have met the owner on several occasions and he cares very much about his customers. So I have a brand new Ram now and I am very happy. The only disappointment was the value of my trade in which had absolutely nothing to do with my salesman, Chris. That was someone in the back room if you will. I would recommend going there, seeing Chris and have him set you up in a new vehicle like he did with me. More

I was not comfortabel purchasing a new car due to prior experiances with car dealers giving misinformation, bending the truth and pushing the sale of a car or extras that I do not need. This was not the case dealing with Michail Goldberg at Westbury. He is very knowladgable about his cars he stayed late two nights to make sure our needs were met and all our questions were answered. Although the dealership was very busy he gave us his full attention and went above and beyond. We picked up our new car at night and wanted to see it in the light. Michael drove the car into the show-room so that we could inspect it! When the final bill arrived the price was exactly as we agreed; No suprises, no nickle and diming. We drove away in our new Jeep Grand Cherokee feeling content and very happy. I highly recommend Westbury Jeep and Michael Goldberg. More

When we went to take delivery, the car was perfectly prepped, the paperwork was done correctly. Michael Goldberg, the employee who handled the sale, fully explained and demonstrated all of the cars features and then my son happily drove out of the lot. Although the above experience is what one would expect as typical, I have experienced the polar opposite, when my older son purchased his first car at a different dealership. More
I fought tooth & nail with my wife against going truck shopping on maybe the most beautiful Sunday of the summer, but Chris actually made it an almost fun experience. We got a fair trade-in on our old Wrangler, & he got us into the exact truck we wanted within a day. He worked with us to get a monthly payment that worked for us too. We love our new Wrangler Unlimited. This is our third Jeep & our second from Westbury. We would recommend them, and particulary Chris, unreservedly. Brian & Fran More
Wow! What a great experience. This is my 5th Jeep but by far the best experience yet. (Almost didn't get another one because of how bad Manhattan Jeep has become under the guidance of the owner's cocky son. far the best experience yet. (Almost didn't get another one because of how bad Manhattan Jeep has become under the guidance of the owner's cocky son.) Westbury Jeep was a breath of fresh air in this very competitive market. It was more like dealing with a high end import luxury car dealer then the typical aggressive detroit based car dealer. The price in the ad was exactly what I ended up paying. I was never pressured throughout the deal. Went in one day, picked out the car and put a deposit down. Went in another day and set up financing. Went in a third to pick up the car. At no point was I pressured to do everything all in the same day. Dealers usually make you do everything before you are allowed to walk out the door and say that price might not last if you leave. Our sales person (Thomas McNamee) was great too. He did a great job explaining everything to us and was very friendly. His card even had his cell phone number on it that was answered every time I called. It was refreshing to buy a car from someone appeared laid back and relaxed than someone who acted like the quintessential used car dealer! He was just 'salesman-y' enough when he needed to be. Even when we encountered a problem with delivery, the dealership and Thomas went above and beyond to fix the problem and keep the delivery timing on track. I cannot recommend Westbury Jeep enough. After owning 4 Jeeps I was turned off to the brand by the dealers but Westbury Jeep not only got this sale from me but likely kept me in a Jeep after this one as well! More

I will not recomend this dealer to anyone because if your deal doesn't happen they will not return your deposit. I made a deposit of $300.00 for a Jeep Wrangler but the deal didn't happen because I could not deal doesn't happen they will not return your deposit. I made a deposit of $300.00 for a Jeep Wrangler but the deal didn't happen because I could not get approved for a lease. I did get approved to finance the car but that was not what I wanted. The sales man Joe told me I would get the deposit refunded in the next billing cycle but that has not happen since 3/1/11. I filed for their online credit application and was told I was approved but that was just a ploy to get me in the door, they must make alot of money on not returning the deposits. I'm glad the deal didn't go because I was quoted $2000.00 more for my trade-in at another jeep dealer. Also the sales man refused to lower one cent from the sticker price. Maybe my experiance wasn't as good as others on this site because I'm a male hispanic. More
