I wasn’t kept informed of the status of my transmission overhaul, and the estimated completion date. I had to call at 3 weeks into the repair to get a status. At that point I was informed that I needed a overhaul, and the estimated completion date. I had to call at 3 weeks into the repair to get a status. At that point I was informed that I needed another part replaced at a cost of $1900 more, and another week delay. The diagnosis at the beginning should have identified that extra repair. Had I been given the total cost at the beginning I probably would not have authorized any repair because of the low value of the vehicle. So, $7000 into the repair I had to decide whether to spend another $1900. Waste $7000 or spend another $1900 and get the total repair. Without the total repair the car would be useless. Upon completion of the repair I was notified and given the total cost of $12,950. I checked the totals of work I approved and calculated it to be $9950. They would have overcharged me $3000 had I not checked the authorized cost. More
