This guy was awesome! Our ride to get to Doan (about 45-60 min from where we live) took longer than making the deal! What a wonderful experience - we stopped in on a Sunday, and picked up our new Jeep 45-60 min from where we live) took longer than making the deal! What a wonderful experience - we stopped in on a Sunday, and picked up our new Jeep on Monday evening - that's what I call TOPS when it comes to sales. We have highly recommended Mike and Doan to our family and friends- this was an especially great experience considering we have a Jeep dealer in the same town where we live, and we just couldn't seem to get a deal from them - Doan is GREAT - especially Mike Wallace! Where to start? First and foremost, I want to say the the majority of my so-so ratings above have nothing to do with my sales rep, Huong. He did a really great job in just about all aspects of the deal. He is friendly and engaging and definitely went above and beyond to get me the vehicle I would be most happy with. Here's what I am upset about, which is why I will be hesitant to recommend Doan to others. First of all, my new truck already needs to be serviced. I realize it's a demo (believe me, you keep reminding me of that), but the "needs an oil change" light should not have come on within 36 hours of driving off the lot. I spoke with Huang about it and of course, I have to come in to have the vehicle serviced. Does it really need an oil change or is it just the sensor malfunctioning? Either way, I am not happy. He said they always do an oil change before the vehicle leaves the lot, but honestly I am not sure I believe him. Here's why... The truck I purchased had some rear end damage done to it by the sales rep that drove the vehicle as a demo. Doan agreed to repair the damage prior to me signing the sales contract. Huong and another important sales person had me inspect the vehicle and make a list of all the items that needed repair. One of the things they promised me was a new bumper. A big deal was actually made about this by the important sales rep (don't recall his name). When it came time for me to pick up the truck last Thursday, Huong wanted me to check the vehicle over to see if the repairs were done to my satisfaction. It was almost 9pm at this point so it was dark out and it had snowed that evening. That did make it difficult to see everything that was supposed to be repaired. I asked Huong if it was a new bumper and he seemed a little hesitant with his answer. Something along the lines of "well they *told* me it was a new one..." A bit of a red flag popped up in my head, so I thoroughly inspected the vehicle the next morning in the sunlight. I can assure you it is not a new bumper. I am not angry with Huong about this, but I am upset that no one at Doan let me know they would be doing repairs to the bumper rather than replacing it. Either way is fine with me, but I would have appreciated being told the truth. There are still a couple of small chips in the paint near the center of the bumper (by the middle step) that will need to be repaired asap. I really don't want any rust to start setting in. My next issue involves your finance guy. Something transpired with him and it is still really bothering me. When I sat down with him on 11/12/11 to go over financing, we discussed my various options. While he was able to find a loan that I qualified for, I specifically let him know that I would be looking into other bank financing to assess all of my available options. He ran the numbers for both 60 and 72 month terms. I let him know I would most likely be going with 60 months. He also gave me a very hard sell on the extended warranty. I let him know that I was very interested in the product, but that I did *not* want to roll it in to my payments. I was extremely specific about this and if he says otherwise, he is not being truthful. If he recalls, I told him that I wanted to pay cash for it and inquired how long the number he quoted me would be good for. He indicated he could hold the price until the end of the month. I let him know that I would not have the funds until after 12/10/11, so I would just have to take my chances on the price increasing. Again, I am certain I mentioned my intentions throughout the course of the conversation. Fast forward to vehicle pick up on Thursday 11/17/11. Huong has all of the paperwork prepared as I arrive after a tough day of work. It's late (7:30ish) and I am exhausted. Lo and behold, the paperwork already indicated that I have chosen Five Star bank as my lender with a 72 month term AND the extended warranty rolled into the loan! Seriously? I told Huong that this had not been agreed upon and of course he was frustrated. He said the loan guy had already gone home, so I would have to reschedule my new truck pick up/trade in of my vehicle for another day. When questioned as to how this happened, he said that he specifically asked the finance guy if I had agreed to the terms and he was told I had indicated we were "all set." I let Huong know this was not the case at all and he saw my frustration and again offered to reschedule. At this point, I am even more exhausted from my long work day, had just spent the previous hour preparing my old truck for trade in (removing my personal items, etc.) and just wanted it all to be done. I am now wishing I hadn't signed the paperwork and had rescheduled for another time. I am not happy with a 72 month term and I am really upset that the extended warranty was rolled in. So this brings me to question why the finance guy would do something like this. It seems extremely shady to me. Is it because I am female and he thought he could pull one over on me? Is it because he gets some kind of kick back with the higher termed loans and the extended warranties? I don't know the answer to these questions, but I have heard that they make over $200,000/year (not verified, just been told), so maybe this is how they have such good fortune in the annual salary department. Lastly, I have to say that the "friendliness" factor of some of your sales reps was not what I had expected from Doan. I bought my previous vehicle from Doan Buick/GMC and was happy with that experience. This is the main reason I visited Doan Dodge/Chrylser/Jeep that day. I have to say, the way the other sales folks acted around Huong was pretty sad. Seemed like a bit of jealousy from an outside observer's perspective. Also, whomever had to give Huong some paperwork on the night I picked up my new truck did not come across very nicely either. He had to give Huong something for me to sign and walked up behind me, dropped it on the table and walked off. No hello, no courtesy, nothing. I am now wondering if perhaps my expectations for Doan customer service are too high? Where do we go from here? I would like some answers to all of my above noted issues. More
Stephen is a fantastic salesman, never coming across as overbearing or as if his agenda is above that of the customer. A real genuine, friendly and relateable guy. John is also a class act, incredibly frie overbearing or as if his agenda is above that of the customer. A real genuine, friendly and relateable guy. John is also a class act, incredibly friendly and personable. I was very pleased with the trade-in value of my vehicle, as it was well more than some other dealerships had offered me. Tires for Life was a pleasant surprise, as I wasn't even aware of it when I walked in. I will certainly consider Doan first the next time anyone asks for a recommendation, or when I find myself in the market for a new vehicle again in the future. More
