Service center is fine. Service advisors are fine. Website to sign up for service needs some help, particularly if you only need an oil change. When you sign up for a particular time slot of 30 minutes and you select it, there is a natural inclination to assume the work is paced for an oil change job every 30 minutes. What I came to realize was that there is a disclaimer in the beginning of the site that says this selected time slot is "just to have access to a service advisor". This is completely non-intuitive and frankly, dumb. Why would anyone use this system? How is it off loading some of the routine calls that service advisors get by phone? Now, granted, I was on my phone and didn't notice or read the disclaimer. So here is my suggestion: Please set up a way to schedule oil changes on the web site for a time slot that you can select with a reasonable expectation they can be performed within the selected 30 minutes. I'm not sure if this is even possible based on the availability of an employee to perform the oil change. Perhaps make oil changes available only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. As an alternative, have every web site service time slot selected be linked to a service advisor who follows up within 24 hours to gain a better understanding of what needs to be done. It could be that oil changes are just not that great of a profit center to create an easy way to get one done. If that is the case, perhaps have a captured "oil change" business run by a separate entity. Whatever happened to "Express Lube and Oil'? Please note that Laura tried to guide me thru my mistake. In fact, the oil change was completed just before 10:00, so a one-hour turnaround time isn't bad. My problem is with the website and if Washington Ford really wants to schedule and perform oil changes. More
