Assumptive Service Department Dear LIthia Volvo, This is to inform you of my decision never to return to your dealership for service on my new S60 Volvo sedan. When I made the Dear LIthia Volvo, This is to inform you of my decision never to return to your dealership for service on my new S60 Volvo sedan. When I made the service appointment I was told the time needed to perform the needed service would be approximately 1.5 hours. I adjusted my day's schedule accordingly. Since I live some 50 miles distant from your facility I had to put off some important items such as banking, shopping and marketing. However, to make matters worse by the time the car was readied for me it was 3 HOURS LATER!!!! Accordingly, I was unable to take care of most of my day's needs because I could not perform them in time needed to me to return home during daylight hours. I have night blindness and do not drive at night because it is too dangerous for me and other drivers near me. My point is that no one on your service staff asked me if taking more time beyond the 1.5 hour oil change to download and update the cars computer software!!! Obviously your service department made the unilateral decision to just go ahead and to the download without informing me or asking me if I had the extra time for that function to be carried out! Had I been given the courtesy of being asked I would have replied "NO"!!!! The fact of your service department having just decided on its own to do that additional work and take that additional time was not only unfair but it was, simply put, an OUTRAGE!!! How dare they undertake that additional work and time without my permission????!!! If you treat your other customers in such a rude and unthinking manner your business cannot possibly endure! Lastly, your apologies fell completely flat and were obviously insincere and pointless. All such utterances did was deepen and worsen the situation in my mind! What a careless and thoughtless organization your business runs!!!! I shall not hesitate to advertise my experience at your store online wherever and as widely as I can!!!
