While everyone in the service department was great, Jim Coyle, the service manager, made my day. Although I took my car in because of the A/C, he took time to sit in my car with me to help figure why I couldn't get my music to play with bluetooth. He was thoughtful and patient, even though he's clearly a busy guy. Thanks, Jim. I''ll be back to buy next time we upgrade to a newer Volvo More
I’ve had nothing but issues with both locations. January 3rd took my car in to the Volvo dealership location at: 7216 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78752. The next day Ricardo called me to January 3rd took my car in to the Volvo dealership location at: 7216 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78752. The next day Ricardo called me to ask if the car had been struck by lightning, it wasn’t. It needed a new Transmission Control Module. $2K+ and 30 days later on February 2nd, the car was ready. Upon picking up my car, I got in and the dashboard told me to pull over immediately so I turned it off. I told Ricardo what the dash had told me. I hadn’t even put it in drive and there’s issues. So, we popped the hood together to see what was going on. It was at this moment that I saw there were tools left in the engine compartment. A couple sockets and an extension that would have caused severe damage but, it warning was due to the coolant reservoir was almost completely empty. I was beyond frustrated, especially after being told the car had been test driven and washed and was ready to be picked up. It wasn’t ready. He recovered to tools and put in coolant and said it was safe to drive,Driving home, the check engine light came on. I had already ran the codes with another auto shop before taking it to the dealership. Now I discovered that there were now several new DTCs after it was “fixed”. The one that bothered me, the most was the airbag said it wasn’t functioning now. The whole reason why I bought a Volvo is for the safety of the car. I had played phone tag so many times with the i35 location and the Hill country location was closer to me and knowing that they were both owned by the same owners, I decided to try my luck at this new location. I spoke with Jason and felt confident that these new issues would be resolved. Unfortunately, there’s now new issues with the car again! The airbag issue was resolved. It appears that somebody had just unplugged something and didn’t plug it back in. This time, when I got into my car to drive away again, my air conditioner won’t come on. The air won’t even blow at all. Also, the stereo won’t turn on! I’m beyond frustrated with the dealership. I always call advance to let them know I’m coming to pick up my car. Both times it wasn’t ready and both times somehow there’s no more problems than when I initially took it in! The fact that I found tools left in my engine the first time and the dash saying to pull over gives me very little faith with their technicians and their competence. It’s one thing for the technicians to make a mistake. We all make mistakes, but then who else looks over the car before it’s ready to be picked up? It says that there’s a multiple point inspection before picking it up but, clearly this hasn’t been the case! I have read the responses to some of the previous complaints on this site and the response is to contact Dean Bushick. I called him at the number that was given to one of the reviews here just last December. My call would not be forwarded to him. The person that answered my call would not forward me to his voicemail nor give me his email address to contact him about these grievances. I was told that Dean would probably be at the Hill country location. So I called the Hill country location. I was told he wasn’t there and he was at the i35 location. Well, I had just called that location and they told me to call this one. I asked her for his email address. I was told she didn’t have that information. Weird! I was then transferred to his phone line which there’s no outgoing voicemail so I don’t even know if I left a voicemail on the correct person box. But it did say it was extension 1980. This is so disheartening and beyond frustrating. How difficult it is to get through to anybody and how long it takes for a car to be repaired is ridiculous. In the past I had always had a great experience with this brand. Volvo itself has gone downhill dramatically or it’s just these two locations that are ruining Volvo’s reputation. More
I am a visiting out-of-town private shop owner/operator that sent a local family member’s car to this dealership to handle a simple problem. I was lied to by the service department by a tenured technician, that sent a local family member’s car to this dealership to handle a simple problem. I was lied to by the service department by a tenured technician, their service writer, the service manager, and ultimately they were all backed up by the general manager. They told me I had a dangerous leak and other serious problems that did not exist at all. They were unable to answer many simple questions when put on the spot. There are many breaks in communication that are traditional in every professional repair shop (in my experience). Last, I was presented with what I believe to be false evidence (pictures)in an attempt to back up their false claims. As a professional, I have vast experience throughout the car business, including dealerships. As a mechanic/technician of every variety, I have an extremely high level set of skills and experience that I continue to use today. In my opinion I would stay away from this dealership entirely based on my experience. It’s worth the wait, despite the circumstances, to take your service business to any other Volvo dealership that you can manage to travel to. I can’t speak for the other departments at this dealership based on experience, but the GM seems to be very loyal to their employees. This is beautiful to see as a former employee of dealerships myself and a nightmare as a customer. A few technical details for those that are curious….The car was intermittently giving overheating messages on the gauge cluster and was suddenly low on coolant in the reservoir. The check engine light was not on and no codes of any variety were present or pending. The car is pristine under the hood and only minor coolant soaking was visible on the belly pans with no leaks visually detectable with the engine cold. While diagnosing the leak, I had my nose tucked in every crevice it would fit into searching for hints of coolant that are typically obvious. I smelled nothing out of the ordinary which includes the absence of a fuel smell entirely. The car operated/accelerated beautifully with no codes or lights ever appearing (There were never stored, pending or confirmed codes at all). Eventually an o-ring in a coolant pipe assembly on top of the engine began to leak once the engine warmed up and was driven to full operating temperature. The car was perfect otherwise. I had the car towed less than a mile to the dealership. I have no choice but to be sarcastic by saying that, according to Volvo, on the short trip to the dealership on the wrecker the car developed a misfire in every cylinder, it developed a bad fuel leak that was immediately noticed by them upon first opening the hood, the car ran poorly overall, accelerated horribly with noticeable misfired and the check engine light was allegedly on for the misfires as well. Along with the coolant pipe assembly the car apparently had 4 failing coil packs, carboned and fuel soaked plugs, and a fuel line related sensor that was leaking fuel constantly. When I asked about witnessing the problems and diagnosis methods in person, as well as details about what was discovered and how, apparently codes had already been cleared, bad parts had already been thrown away and good/used parts had already been installed to diagnose the problems. I called a few other Volvo dealerships and had lengthy conversations with several members of their service department management (including shop foremen) to help settle my professional and personal confusion, and unfortunately all of my bad feelings about the situation were clearly confirmed. Unless you’re having an emergency, please don’t subject yourself to these people, I would expect them to cheat you with no resolution. More
Even after purchasing our Volvo, Michael at Volvo Cars of Austin was still engaged with our needs and satisfaction. I called him to express a need involving our wheels and he went into action. My vehicle arrived before the end of the year and due to requests I had I didn't pick it up until mid January. I purchased the extended maintenance plan, wheel and windshield warranty and interior coverage. The problems started when I tried to use my extended warranty. It seems that all of their services are delayed by a minimum of a month. I've submitted a request for a refund for my extended warranty and still haven't received any information. I now have attempted to use my wheel coverage and was told a month and a half to replace my cracked wheel. More

Had such a wonderful experience purchasing a vehicle through Emmett Vick. He was patient, knowledgeable and creative when it came to working with me and did everything he could to get me the vehicle I w through Emmett Vick. He was patient, knowledgeable and creative when it came to working with me and did everything he could to get me the vehicle I wanted with out being too pushy or aggressive. Definitely the best choice in choosing Volvo of Austin. You don’t always get a good deal AND good customer service all in one. But I definitely got all of that! More
