Our Awful Experience at Volvo of Tampa First of all, I have only written two reviews in my entire life and they were on amazon products and they were positive reviews. Normally, I don’t eve First of all, I have only written two reviews in my entire life and they were on amazon products and they were positive reviews. Normally, I don’t even bother but our experience at Volvo of Tampa was so AWFUL I felt it was necessary for me to write one so that other consumers can be warned. I am a consumer who does a lot of research on items before I purchase them so I did not walk in to Volvo of Tampa uneducated about the features of the 2016 Volvo XC90. We also walked into the dealership knowing that we wanted the Volvo and had a check with us to purchase it right there. This is how our experience went….. When we walked in the door, three people looked directly at us and we stood in the lobby for about 5 minutes before anyone approached us to see if they could help. I am a very understanding person and had any of these people had clients with them I would understand the wait, but they didn’t. They pretended as if we didn’t exist so we walked over to the XC90 in the show room and began looking at the vehicle. Eventually, a sales associate (mid 40's middle eastern male) approached us, looked us both up and down and then asked if he could help us. Yes, we both were in jeans and off that day so we didn’t come dressed in our Sunday best. Yes, we are both young, I am 28 and my girlfriend is 32, however we are both professional adults. We asked about their inventory and if they had a 2016 XC90 in Onyx black with charcoal interior. We also explained we wanted the momentum with the momentum plus package, vision package, homelink and apple play. The associate did not write down our request and said he would see if he had it. I was advised that Volvo of Clearwater (Volvo of Tampa’s sister store) had it and that Volvo of Tampa could get the vehicle. Great, we both thought. I requested for the associate to show us a vehicle that had the same features and if we could do a test drive. You would have thought I just asked someone to show me the inside of the White House by how this sales associate acted. It was very apparent that we were “bothering him”. We did not walk out because we wanted to test drive a vehicle that had the same features before we had it brought over from Volvo of Clearwater. During the test drive, the sales associate did not explain many of the vehicles features and I had to ask questions about every feature in the vehicle to get an answer. His response was always very short and lacked detail. A consumer would expect someone to show them the features of the vehicle at least. After we got back to the dealership from the test drive, we were escorted to the used car side of the lot. We didn’t want a used car, but apparently, the sales associate thought it would be more in our “price range”. At no time, had we discussed prices or how we were paying for the vehicle, he made this assumption by how we looked I guess. We advised we were not interested in a used vehicle and that we wanted the new 2016 with the upgraded wheels (5 spoke matte wheels). The sales associate replied “those are $750 more”. We replied, “we realize that, but we want them”. I guess he thought we wouldn’t be able to afford the $750. At this time, we walked back into the show room and I requested that we talk numbers. I had already done pricing research and had a written quote in hand (with a vin #) of a vehicle in Stuart, FL from Wallace Volvo that was the best price I had been able to find. It was the exact same vehicle Volvo of Tampa was going to get from Volvo of Clearwater. I let the sales associate go talk to his manager and they came back with a quote significantly higher than the one I had from Wallace Volvo ($5,000 difference). I showed the sales associate the quote (out the door price) from Wallace Volvo and the sales associate stood up and walked to his managers office. After a few minutes, the manager and sales associate came back to the table where we were sitting and the manager (heavier set w/m) stated, “we don’t like to lose money on our cars, there is no way you are going to get that car for that price”. He then stated, “that car must be a demo or used vehicle”. I assured him it wasn’t and we stood up, shook their hands and left. Also, it should be noted, Ferman Volvo in Tarpon was very polite but they didn’t have the vehicle in stock that we wanted. The next day, we drove to Wallace Volvo in Stuart, Florida. Wallace’s sales manager, Dirk and sales associate, Sean were awesome. We were treated very well and ended up with the vehicle for the exact price Dirk quoted me in writing. There were no games, no belittling and no false representations of the vehicle. The vehicle even had the protection package on it that the Volvo of Tampa / Volvo of Clearwater vehicle didn’t have! The vehicle was not a demo and wasn’t used like Volvo of Tampa assured me it would be. The vehicle had 19 miles on it when we walked out the door. We happily wrote Wallace Volvo a check, shook their hands and drive home with our vehicle. Also, Dirk spent over an hour explaining every feature on the vehicle prior to us leaving. I know that everyone has different experiences at car dealerships, however, I have never been treated as poorly as I was at Volvo of Tampa in my life. The way we were treated was that we didn’t appear that we could “afford” the vehicle we were purchasing. Little did Volvo of Tampa know, but we would have even been willing to pay $1,000 higher than what we paid at Wallace Volvo to not have to drive 3 hours to Stuart, FL, if only we had been treated in a courteous manner. It also should be noted, Volvo of Clearwater was also not able to come close to the Wallace Volvo quote. Volvo of Clearwater was $4,000 higher than Wallace Volvo and stated, “we just can’t discount these cars”. It should also be noted, Volvo of Clearwater was not discourteous, they just couldn’t match the quote. I specifically didn’t put the sales associates name or managers name in this review, and I know losing one deal isn’t the end of the world. Just hopefully in the future, they will learn to treat people in a courteous and professional manner. I have bought several cars from Ferman Jeep in the past and I will always use them for Jeep purchases in the future simply because of their customer service. Had Volvo of Tampa not treated us the way they did, they would have had a Volvo customer for life. More
False advertising I called about this car and asked what shape it was in and was told by the General sales manager excellent nothing wrong with it. Advertised as having I called about this car and asked what shape it was in and was told by the General sales manager excellent nothing wrong with it. Advertised as having a new convertible top and new tires. I flew in from Myrtle Beach Sc to purchase this car only to find out the top had scrapes and a hole that had been patched up from the outside with glue which stuck out like a sore thumb. Never again would I trust this dealer. My time and money to get there was wasted, so I had to fly back home without a car. If they lie about that what else have they lied about. More

Don't know what triggered Volvo to identify it as a repair they would fully cover, but it really saved me. When I receive the survey from Volvo of Tampa in the mail, I will definitely respond "Outstanding" for Steve Caracappa's assistance as well as yours when we met about this in late December. Thanks again! More
Purchased used vehicle that had many issues - undisclosed I purchased a used Volvo S60 from Tampa Volvo for my son for safety over a Honda... hopefully we never test the safety features. After driving the car I purchased a used Volvo S60 from Tampa Volvo for my son for safety over a Honda... hopefully we never test the safety features. After driving the car home I immediately called the dealer about the lack of cold air. The salesperson "Hume Spear" strung me along for over two weeks. The sales manager finally got involved two weeks later and said it was as is"no warranty". Buyer beware, I trusted the dealership went thru the car as they said they did. The car needed a new compressor and a turn signal switch to make it good for my son. over 1,100.00 later... FYI - Hume's famous last words" at least you got a great Volvo" I disagree!!! I will never buy a car from them again or recommend the dealership. They are a small time dealership!!! More

The service technicia I initially took my car to the Volvo garage in December, for the diagnosis of an intermittent ignition issue with my Volvo S60. The service technicians were unable to identify the cause of the problem during this initial visit. The Service Manager was sympathetic to my frustration caused by this visit. He offered to perform additional diagnosis for free if the problem continued. It did continue and became progressively worse, I returned my vehicle last week. The shop foreman performed extensive diagnosis on my car for free, located and fixed the problem. I was extremely impressed with the quality customer care provided by the Service Manager and his staff involved in the work on my vehicle. More

Great Dealership, Staff and Prices My wife had been in the market for a Volvo and looked around the Orlando area for the last 3 weeks trying to find the vehicle we were looking for. We My wife had been in the market for a Volvo and looked around the Orlando area for the last 3 weeks trying to find the vehicle we were looking for. We found a few vehicles but the dealerships were not willing to accept a fair price. We found Volvo of Tampa has several of the XC60's so we drove from Deland Florida (2 hours) to Tampa in pursuit of our vehicle. We called ahead and were greeted by David (the boss) and were pleased with his customer service. When we arrived our sales person was Derrick who was very knowledgeable about Volvos (all makes, models & years). He made the entire process flow and was great to deal with. Derrick and David were willing to deal and this sealed the deal. There customer service was above and beyond expectations and the other dealerships need to take note. Ben was also great to deal with and his math was spot on according to the deal we agreed to. No fuzzy math here. Kudos to this team who made shopping a pleasure, Thanks again! More

The receptionist took my name and phone number and told me they would call me back. I never received a phone call back (shocking), so I called the next morning and asked to speak to a service representative. The receptionist tried to make an appointment with me, instead of fulfilling my request of speaking with a service representative. I know listening skills are difficult to master, but it takes intelligence to master a skill, something Volvo of Tampa does not have. I am very disappointed in their Customer Service, my wife and I are looking at purchasing another vehicle, happy to say it will not be a Volvo. If you are in the customer service business, try listening to your customers and fulfilling their requests, it might get you further in the industry. More
