The dealership is clean. Nice waiting room with a TV. Refreshments were available. The sales staff are very pleasant and professional. I have been to other dealerships in which upon driving onto thier parking lot,the salesmen were like vultures. I couldn't even get out of my car without having 2 to 4 salesmen hounding me. They would continue to follow me around even when I told them I was just looking. I fell for the trick when they asked for my car keys so they can have the manager look at my car for a trade in. The salesman said he would be right out and let me know how much the trade in value would be. He didn't come out. Upon asking for my car keys the salesman continued to tell me the manager would be right out. This was very frustrating. They were holding me hostage. Finally I got very angry and demanded they give my keys back. Upon leaving I was so mad I vowed to let all my friends know about my experience, in which I did. Needless to say this dealership is no longer in business. It was a very large dealership here in Ocala. My experience at Volkswagen of Ocala was totally different. The saleman greeted me. Asked me what kind of car I was interested in. He showed me around. Explained the benefits of each vehicle I looked at. Then he gave me some breathing room. When I decided on which car I might be interested in, we went for a test drive. He exlained and showed me all the benefits of this car. Upon returning to the dealership I decided on buying the car. The finance department was wonderful. They got a good interest rate for me. I was totally pleased with my experience. It was a pleasant and relaxed. I didn't feel pressured. I will and have told all my friends and family about Volkswagen of Ocala. I love my Volkswagen Rabbit. It is definetly Kicking some Asphalt !! More
I could not be more satisfied with my experience(s) with this Dealership. The prompt and courteous attention that I have received each time I visit far surpasses any experience I have had in the past with this Dealership. The prompt and courteous attention that I have received each time I visit far surpasses any experience I have had in the past with other Dealerships. They ALWAYS explain everything in detail that is going to be given attention to and/or accomplished during my visit, along with the estimated cost before, and after, the work is done. I also like the fact that they always try to assist you in the actual cost of the work needed to be performed by giving you discounts/coupons on the final cost. I have also realized with recent work that was performed that they found a particular problem that the previous Dealership should have found had they been as honest and conscientious! I really appreciate this fact! I just could not be happier at this point! I would definitely recommend this Dealership to anyone in need of service for their vehicle - or to purchase a new vehicle! Thank you very much! More

I Vehicle: 2005 Passat TDI I bought the vehicle from this dealer, but normally do most of the routine sevice (filters, oil change, etc.) myself. I have returned the car several times to the dealership for the more complicated repairs and servicing that I did not feel competent, or was not equipped, to do. While their prices tend to be higher than I expected, I gather that they are not out of line with other foreign care service centers. The only problem I have had with their service was during the break-in period, when I returned the car to them for oil changes. On two occasions, they slightly overfilled the engine, despite warnings in the owners' manual and on underhood decals cautioning against it. On the third visit, I pointed this out to them and they finally got it right. I have done all the oil changes (using the VW specified oil) since then. I must give them credit for one repair they performed. While on a trip to Alaska, the car developed a serious vibration while idling in gear. I assumed it was a problem with the engine mounts, so they were replaced by the dealership in Anchorage. That did not solve the problem and the service manager there was at a loss to explain it. When I got the car back to Ocala and explained the trouble, one of the technicians suggested it might be the front axles. That didn't sound logical to me, but that was the problem. Before leaving on the Alaskan trip, one of the CV boots began leaking. I had taken it to the local foreign car repair shop (not a VW dealer), who told me it was best to replace the entire axle rather than just replacing the boot. Big mistake! Their replacement was not an OEM VW part (probably a cheap copy made in China, I was later told) and lasted about 4,000 miles before it began to wear out and vibrate badly. I would never have thought of that as the cause, but the technician at Ocala VW (now Gettleman VW) nailed it. It seems to be a problem only with the diesel Passats, largely due to the inherent vibration of a four cylinder diesel engine. It was a costly experience, but I was pleased to have it fixed. On the other hand, they did not know about the balance shaft problem these cars develop, but that's another story for another time. Even Volkswagen itself denies any knowledge of it. More
